Style: American Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This triple chocolate stout is a unique interpretation of the style, combining three different chocolate malts, cacao nibs and 63 percent semi-sweet chocolate, creating a sinfully delicious brew. The addition of blackstrap molasses produces an earthy, caramelized tone in an already complex flavor profile. It's creamy, milkshake-like mouthfeel earns this beer the reputation of being dessert in glass.

Pours a dark black color loses its head and not much lacing. Not as smooth as some. A little bite on the back end that somehow shouldn't be there

Pleasant overall. age muted the flavor somewhat but not in a offensive way.

Poor head retention. Off taste--sour notes over power cocoa intentions. Strong sour aftertaste.

A bland, oddly flavored stout well below the class of many others. Would not buy again.

Poured from a chilled 12oz bottle into a frozen english pint glass. V. Poured dark brown with an off white head which started 2 fingers tall, then receded but stayed throughout my tasting. S. I didn't get much aroma from this brew. Overall pretty plain, almost like a porter, not as deep as a stout. T. Crisp flavors but not much chocolate, more like roasted coffee. Medium body, almost you light too be a stout.
O. The lack in depth of flavor and aroma disappointed me but it was still drinkable. I don't think I'd but again however.

Appearance - 3.75/5
Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Shades of reddish-brown near the edges of the glass. A small amount of light brown head.

Smell - 4/5
Roasty, chocolate coffee notes, with a hint of alcohol, and maybe some fruitiness (bananas) and a tiny bit of spice. Smells really similar to Founder's breakfast porter.

Taste - 3/5
A sweet and dark molasses roastiness, along with a banana fruitiness. An interesting flavor, not sure it really goes well together. After sipping for a little bit longer, I confirm that I am not a fan..

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Smooth, medium to full bodied. A medium level of medium intensity carbonation. Definitely has some creamines to it, though it's not super creamy.

Overall - 3.25/5
Not a terrible beer, definitely has some good aspects, but I wasn't super pleased with the flavor.
