Style: Irish Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
The story of Brigid (pronounced "Breed") is one shrouded in mystery; equal parts pagan history and Catholic sainthood, the one thing that seems to hold true is that she embodies the fiery spirit of Ireland. Our paean to her is held within the confines of a fine Irish-style red ale, a proud exultation that is bright, bold, and smooth. Brewed with molasses for a hint of jammy dark fruit, low medium hints of earthy hops come through, and creamy malt provides a calming backbone. A modest alcohol content keeps everything convivial, as there's plenty to toast come early spring.

Pretty standard red ale here. Pours from the tap bright red with a small white head. Aroma of some fruit and cherry, a little bit of toffee. Flavor follows with some light bland malts, light fruitiness, and very little hop presence. Easy drinking but a little bland. Arcadia is very much hit or miss for me. I would take this over a Sam Adams, but that is about it.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Medium amber color with a small white head that receded to a patchy layer; minimal lacing. Aroma of toasted sweet malts, slightly nutty. Basic taste that followed the aroma pretty closely: toasty malts, caramel, nuts, grains, a bit of sweet corn that threw things off a little, and a mild hop bitterness. Light-medium body, decent overall, but nothing too amazing here.
