Imperial IPA brewed with peach and tangerine.

Just in time for the celebration of a new decade, Horizon Lines was brewed with Champagne and OJ in mind. For those who’ve tried Peel Session on draft over the last few years around this time of year, this one’s its close relative. 11% abv, with notes of sweet clementine, nectar and peach, Horizon Lines is surprisingly soft considering its high abv. Just like a mimosa, we think of this beer as a treat any time of year.

A: Starts off as a tangerine sunburst, juicy and thin. Addition of yeast sediment from bottom of the can adds a thickener to the equation resultingvinna turbid marigold, both bright and hazy. Foamy patches of orange colored pith white head.

S: Danker notes of pine cross with mango and grapefruit. Mango lassi, peach rings, apricot jelly donut. Doughy sweet malt with touch of caramel. Different enough from the fruit bomb I was expecting with enough hop complexity.

M: Carbonation is present but docile,
and below the threshold of outright effervescence. Soft sparkle of carbonation with a pleasantly dry finish. A full beer that drinks like a 5% pale without the added weight of the malt.

T: The tangerine adds a bright sour and sweet citrus touch. Estery profile of apple, Concord grape and mangosteen. Lime fizz, doublemint gum, and pulpy peach. Hard to find malt; a beer very much driven by the combo of ester, yeast, and fruit additives. A fitting beer equally suited for late brunch as it has enough sourness, or a spicy dinner as the sweetness provides good balance.

NOT retired; canned 12/30/20; deep deep pineapple, orange rinds and coconut; lovely soft biting but creamy effervescence; alcohol is hidden on first gulp but you do get a hint of the 11% in the aftertaste (not necessarily a bad thing). Such depth of flavor, it lingers in a way where you need to keep on sippin’. Great Foam classic.

A-Hazy (as expected), big head on a moderately aggressive pour into a nonic pint glass. Marigold orange. Head disappeared rapidly.
S-Tangerine and apricot. Some biscuit/malt, and grassy dank.
T-Same. Pretty complex with a number of undertones from peaches to caramel. Moderately (+) sweet, Moderate (-) bitter. Amazingly minimal alcohol for the ABV, but a fair amount of warming and astringency on the swish.
M-Nearly Full body, Below average carbonation, but tingly on the palate.
O-I've lost an affinity for these booze bomb imperial IPA's, but Horizon Lines is refined enough and complex enough, and hiding the alcohol in the process, that it's pretty damn good.

A: The beer is very hazy whitish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left lacing on the surface an a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of tangerines are present in the nose along with hints of peaches.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of tangerines and peaches.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes nothing like something that is 11% abv as it does a remarkable job at hiding any alcohol from the taste.

canned on 12/27.
Poured in a big pilsner glass.

Fantastic in every way.
Fruity without seeming "fake"
nice tartness.
perfectly balanced in sweetness and hops.
11%, but not boozy at all.
Made an account just for this beer. Get some if you can...
