Appearance is lacking on this, as it poured with foamy head that faded very fast. Color is of murky cola. Aroma is malt, nuts, brown sugar. Taste is sweet, malt, nuts. Overall mouthfeel seems watery and sweetness is the most notable lingering flavor

Appearance: It pours an attractive dark brown body with a fluffy two-finger head, almost like a stout.

Smell: A heavy malt content is noticeable right away. There are hints of freshly baked bread, caramel, and licorice.

Taste: It mainly follows the nose. Sweet malts are followed shortly by light touches of caramel and dark fruits, mainly raisins. Bitter hops are not noticeable at all.

Mouth feel: It is medium bodied with slightly creamy feel. The lack of hops ensures there is little dryness but this balanced by the fact that the beer is not heavily carbonated.

Overall: This is a very refreshing beer. No single aspect of this beer is amazing but it gives what is necessary to make for a decent Dunkel Lager.

50 cL swing-top bottle,

A: Pours a deep mahogany with a creamy off-white head, which leaves spotty lace.

S: Dark bread, some hints of dark fruit and toasted malt.

T: Toasted grain with some caramel and a hint of raisin. Dominated by the malt, never really a full flavour.

M: Drier than I thought'd be, light-bodied with a frothy creamy carbonation character.

O: A solid dunkel lager. This is a style I don't see too often so it was nice to try a new one. Middle of the road, but an enjoyable bottle.

Poured a huge whipped cocoa-colored head that held strong. Deep brown beer has an amber hue around the edges. Solid aroma full of dark malt with bits of brown sugar, cola, and raisins. Fairly sweet flavor is a mix of sugar, toasted malt, and cola and red wine. Mouthfeel is a bit watery. There is a pervading sweetness to this beer that is a bit much for me. If it was toned down it would be a solid drinkable beer.

500ml Bügelflasche. Mindestens haltbar bis: 11.12.11. I get wet thinking of unfiltered dunkels, you wonder why there aren’t more out there.

It pours a nice brownish color with a foamy ta head that recedes with some nice lacing.

The smell is very nice, with some dark malts, bread, and a nice hop touch.

The flavor is pretty good. It is a raostier example. Reminds me of a porter. It is sweet but roasty with some subtle malt and fruit flavors.

Brown reddish color, with mahogany edges. A lot of a beige foam, compact. Some hazyness in the end.
Caraeml in the smell, with a delicate roast. Plesant.
In the taste a good roast/liquorice. Full, without being too heavy. Some caramel.
A good liquorice and roast bitterness in the aftertaste, quite full.
After the liquorice, light notes of hop.
Good drinkability, good beer.

500ml bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a chestnut brown body with some amberish tones present.

Smell: A smell of toasted hearty dark bread, incredibly faint roast flecks, apple skin, and old, dried herbs.

Taste: Soundly toasty malts, a little hint of dark caramel, though not particularly sweet hiding what seems to be some grainy pils underneath. Even a touch of roast in there. Faint, faint touch of apple skin. Dried herbal tone from the hops with enough bitterness to balance things out.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Reasonably smooth mouthfeel.

Overall: A decent dark lager.

A clear, nut brown beer with a thock, creamy head that slowly collapses.

Smell is malty with a little spent grains and a nutty and somewhat roasted smell. A true bottom fermented smell. The yeast adds a scent of ripe apples that have gone a little musty. Also some whiffs of hoppiness.

Taste is malty with light caramalt notes that are a bit like bread crust. A light roast that adds a malt bitter and again the overripe apples come around the corner. Body is sticky and a little sticky. Aftertaste is dry and short. A remarkable beer that tastes like a Landbier to me.

500ml fliptop. It's pretty dark brown with some reddish hues. Half finger of finely bubbled head. Retained really well.

Aroma, Toasted malt, nutty, toffee and bread dough.

Taste, Bread, some pumpernikel. Nutty, leather, a small amount of unsweetened chocolate. Kind of a toasted peanut brittle finish.

Fairly light bodied, almost a bit watery. Carbonation is nearly creamy but the body is quite there to support it. Drinks super easy for me. I think you just need to get this one not overly old, which can be hard for these German imports.
I liked it, but would probably only reach for it again if I were in Germany.
