A- Clear, golden copper with a one finger white head that dissipates to a thin film, leaving moderate lacing.

N- Floral, piney hops with a light graininess underneath.

T- Clean, crisp and dry malty backbone supports loads of piney, floral, citrusy hops. There is a soft fruitiness to the hops as well. Piney resins linger to the finish. aftertaste of floral, piney hops.

M- Medium light body, crisp carbonation, with a dry hoppy finish.

D- A delicious session beer. Definitely going to try this again.

On tap at the Promenade Beer & Wine Festival held in Downtown Long Beach in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with earthy citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid citrus forward hop aromas and flavors.

A special version of the American Pale Ale with Cascade and Centennial hops was available from the handpump last night. I haven't had a cask ale for a while, so I was excited. On to the beer:

The beer has a brilliant orange color with hues of bold yellow. The nose is very perfumy with hops, which bring out lemon, pine, grass, and some caramel coming from the malt. There's a greater mix of flavors in the taste, in which the beer shows more malt yet still holds its hoppy character. Toffee and bread dough lay the foundation for pineapple, cannabis, and hop pedals notes to be showcased. There's almost no bitterness attached, which helps make the beer very easy to approach. The beer is medium bodied, and despite lacking carbonation bubbles, still has texture.

With little doubt the best I've had from Tustin Brewing thus far. Simply a good drink.

On tap at Tustin Brewing.

A: Yellow gold with a chill haze and a frothy white head. Good retention and scattered lacing.

S: Aromatic orange and grapefruit flesh with a hint of tangerine. The hops smell nice. Malt is light but evident, imparting bread and faint caramel.

T: Cracker and a little bread accompany bright citrus notes of orange and grapefruit. Bitterness is at a moderate level and smooth, with no underlying astringency. This is pretty well balanced, but the hop character is slightly more pronounced than that of the malt. No alcohol is evident. The finish is dry and bitter.

M: Medium body with upper moderate carbonation and a dry, sticky, and crisp mouthfeel.

Overall: A good Pale Ale. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

On-tap at Tustin

A: A clear, copper colored beer with very little foam.

S: Almost a better nose than their IPA. Citrus hops with caramel and biscuit maltiness rounding things out.

T: A nice citrus hop flavor with a mild maltiness in the middle and a crisp bitterness on the finish. A nice flavor profile for a pale ale.

M: Medium both in body and carbonation.

D: A pretty decent pale ale. Not the best, but it's definitely a nice hoppy, but not overly bitter incarnation of an American pale.

Consumed 04/14/08.

Copper hued brew with slight hop character to aroma.

Flavor is caramel malty up front, but not beyond moderately so. Parching sensation on the tongue. Then some bitterness at the end without any other hop flavor.

A nice effort, but not up to standards for anything more than a local brewpub beer.

Appearance: Medium copper body with just a slight ring of foam around the edge of the Libby straight-side pint glass. While the clarity of this beer is very good...I'm afraid that the rest of the presentation is sorely lacking

Aroma: With no collar of foam, the nose suffers greatly. There is a slight malt/hop bouquet...but very slight at best

Taste: Floral hops begin the experiencebacked up by a nice malt flavor. Good hop finish with just the right bite for an Americam Pale

Mouthfeel: Thinner than expected from the malty taste...complimentary CO² level

Drinkability: Nice afternoon sipper...bet it would be even better poured by a trained barkeep!
