Had on tap at the brewery

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, gold in color, clear, moderate carbonation

Smell: Belgian spice and meadow--not overly strong

Taste: way better than the smell--Belgian spice, grass, hay, slight hops

Mouthfeel: high carbonation, light bodied, dry, slightly bitter start--gets bitter in the middle with a less bitter end

Overall: I was impressed with this. It was nice, light, and sessionable. A bit on the bitter side, but just different enough to make me want to go back for more.

On-tap 6/14/13 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is kind of faint but contains Belgian yeast, spice, bananas, citrus and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste is decently balanced with flavors of Belgian yeast, bananas and spices up front. Then a good hops presence comes in along with a mild citrus flavor. There's a hearty malt character that provides some substance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a nice Belgian session beer to drink for a long time.

Pours a very light yellow, but completely opaque. Fizzy head dies out almost immediately.

Aroma is slightly citric from hops, with a belgian yeast character of bubblegum.

Taste is dry, with very delicate flavors going on. Slight bitter kick, but not much going on in the palate.

Mouthfeel is insanely dry and watery, I've never had something like it before. This is claimed to be 3-4% (can't make a semi-accurate guess?) and is easily drinkable, but I would get tired of this quick.

Decent, overall. I had the trinity sampler trey and this was the most average of them all. They had a bad imperial brown and an awful baltic porter that tasted/smelled exactly like licorice. They also had an incredible English IPA, and a good amber lager called July Fest. I would go for those two but the saison was worth trying.
