On-tap 2/18/2014 at the brewpub in Providence, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains brown sugar, caramelized malts and some hops.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel and brown sugar. Then a hearty malt character comes in along with a bit of alcohol burn. There’s a decent hops presence that brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, strong kick, decent representation of style, this is a decent beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Full disclosure : I'm a sucker for high ABV syrupy beers, especially during the colder months.
On tap into mug
This is one of the best beers they ever offered.
Mahogany body and nice creamy head.
Boozy and hoppy nose
Sweet, molasses like flavor and fantastic hop citrus delivery
Body like a Brazilian supermodel and warms your belly better than a midnight fire
Overall this one awesome beer and should be on-tap every Winter

Poured out of a growler into a snifter
A - Brownish in color, with flashes of ruby as you agitate this lovely libation. Head retention is decent, head pours a luscious white foam and lace is patchy and grips for life as it slowly slides down the glass.
S - Grapefruit, sweet, dark cherries, wafting liquor that is certainly pleasing, not overpowering.
T - Hops, grapefruit, pleasant, warming rum, sweet prune or raisin flavors.
M - Just under full bodied, slithery and light carbonation. Enough carbonation to carry the bitterness to your palate. Sweet up front, finishes nicely, not to dry, but the hop bitterness sticks with you.
D - Very drinkable, but beware. At 100 IBU and 9% ABV, this baby packs a punch! I love the hop presence in this offering. I brought home a growler and sip it slowly in front of my fireplace when I need to relax after a hard day.
Overall, I was very impressed with this offering and plan to grab another growler before the season is over.
