I stopped in this places last week and found my self filling case after case. This is the place to buy lots & lots of beer. The had most things clearly marked and when I had a question they were very willing to help out. The beer war well organized and I was glad to see many brands and styles that I had not seen in many of my local (down the street shops). In fact they have a stock that reveals any I have seen including those Mega shops. Cool thing, They will let use bust open any case and take what you want. Build your own 4/6 pk and or case. The guy I was talking to and helping me was very knowledgeable about styles and brewers and was able to make some good suggestions about what they had that I might like. after the sale he boxed every thing up well and took it out to my wagon and helped me load. I with I lived around the corner instead of 15 miles away. If you go they also have a small lunch counter in the back so you can browse for beer as you grab lunch. Prost to a great store with a very good staff. MK

This, in my opinion, is the best bottle shop in Frederick. The vibe is pretty standard for a bottle shop. Neon beer signs in the windows, lots of options on the shelves, a few options available cold. They do a great job here of consistently bringing in new beers to keep the selection fresh and interesting. Every time I come in I find something I haven't seen before. The service here depends on who's working. When the beer manager is in he can tell what's coming and when. If it's not coming he's happy to look into the availability of requests. When someone new is working you're pretty much out of luck. In my experience the staff won't reach out to help you but they will try to do what they can when you reach out to them.

Considered to be one of if not the best bottle shop in Frederick.

Typical vibe for a liquor store. Pretty good overall size inside. Plenty of parking out front.

Average service, nothing bad, nothing great.

Selection was better than average, but not by much.

Overall, a decent bottle shop, if you're in the area. Nothing worth going out of your way for though.

Good selection of Belgians/imports, decent selection of American craft. Prices were slightly higher than average, with the exception of one special release on the shelf (BA Bigfoot) that was marked up significantly ($25). I was looking around for about 10 minutes to see if something would spark my interest and was never asked if I needed help. Not a huge deal, and the staff was friendly enough when I checked out. All in all a decent store from my first impression.

My go-to here in Frederick Maryland. Great selection, esp of Belgians. Always getting new beer in and the staff is very friendly. This and Frederick Wine House are the best in Frederick.

The staff members I have interacted with have been helpful. The prices are consistently higher than your total wine's or state line liquors, but the selection is great. If you're in the Frederick area, this is definitely a must visit bottle shop.

A nice selection. Especially for Belgian, UK and German styles. Ok on American craft beers. Staff is mixed. Some of the guys aren't very knowledgable, but then there are 2-3 guys in there that know their craft beer and are very friendly and helpful. Place lets you do single purchases. Prices are so/so and only complaint is many of the beers on the floor are old (not good for hoppy beers).

I go here frequently for the great customer service (best in Frederick IMO), and ability to buy/sample single 12oz options. If I'm deciding on a bomber or 6 or12 pack of something, I know some other stores around with better prices.

One of the better options in the area. Atmosphere is slightly like Total Wine, but not as big and without as much searching.

Selection is fairly decent, with some of the Uk items and Belgian imports segregated in a few areas by themselves. However, there's quite a few dusty bottles and some minor disorganization with the domestic items sort of scattered.

Service is ok, slightly green a bit but willing to help out without any issues. Prices here are fairly reasonable somewhat also. If you happen to be in the area it is worth stopping in for a look.

I found this gem through my gf and mom. Random shopping trips can be beneficial! I'm from Pennsylvania and the only place I can find new and rare beers is in Maryland... so far. This shop in Frederick is easy to get to and conveniently right down the road from DT.

Booze everywhere. Much like that of a typical liquor store. The beer side is rather chaotic with cases strewn across the store. It's a true bottle shop, in that you can rip open a case and mix six or buy it single. That said, bottles and sixers are placed willy nilly making for a treasure hunt style shopping experience. The bottle area is more organized and proves to offer a decent selection. However, there isn't much of a rare beer pick, especially from southern breweries and west coast companies.

The service was great! One guy in particular walked me around the store and pointed out noteworthy stouts and porters that I can attest were great recommendations. The quality of the store was bolstered by the friendly service and decent selection. Only recommendation I have is for them to find rarer beers, of course.

Discovered this place almost by accident after getting off US 15 to check another, more visible, place on the other side of the highway. Just happened to see the "Spirits Shoppe" sign on the front of the place. Glad I did.

This is not the biggest selection I have ever encountered, but it is very nice and full of very good choices. I like to collect bombers to cellar and they have a very good selection of both domestic craft beers and imported offerings.

They also offer mix-and-match sixes and cases, which is always nice.

I happened to stop there a second time a week after discovering it, thanks to a scheduling quirk that had me traveling to DC two weeks in a row. I was impressed that the selection was not stagnant. There were a good number of new beers that had not been in stock the week before.

Service is good. The guys behind the counter, at least the ones I dealt with, are knowledgeable and helpful. Prices seemed right in line with other places more the most part though I did pay $1 more for a bottle of Southern Tier Choklat than what I saw it for today at the local Wegmans ... but then again, I was picking a bottle up there because the last time I had checked Wegmans they had not had it in stock.

This will be a must stop from now on whenever I travel through Frederick.

Stopped in on my way from PA to VA last week. The place is full of wine, but has a few rows of some of the best selection the NE has to offer. I didn't ask for help, but I'm sure the guy behind the counter could have helped me out. In terms of selection, they had all of the Ola Dubhs, Rodenbach, Southern Tier, Jolly Pumpkin, Hannssens, Brewdog, Sink the Bismark, and a ton else. Very happy to find this place in rural MD.

The thing about MD is that they don't accept "vertical" driver's licenses, which is a load of crap, because of some MD law where you get a horizontal one when you turn 21. Now I'm 23 and from PA, which certainly isn't old, but I don't get a new license until I turn 25. I've been turned away at the counter TWICE about to spend >$50 at bottle shops. This place hooked me up, and I never had an issue. They see that I have a Government issued ID saying I was born in 1988, and ask no more. This will be the only place I stop at in MD for the time being.

This is a small little place, tucked away. You will pass right by it if your not careful. Trust me, I have before! Nicely stocked with craft beer. Good MD distribution. Have got good bottles for stillwater, jolly pumkin, and goose island to say a few. They have even had bottles of Sink the Bismark and Tactical Nuclear Penguin before. Good prices on everything, no heavy mark up. Everyone in the store is super friendly, and very helpful. The liqour selection is pretty cool too, first place I've seen Bakon vodka, and only place I have seen the Dogfish Head spirits. Always a good stop, always leave with something good!

The go to beer store in Frederick, half the store is wine, 1/4 is liquor and 1/4 is beer. They have a couple shelves facing each other with 22's and 750's of domestics (on one shelf) and internationals on the other. There is also another shelf with Belgians as well. There are around 8 deli fridge doors with access to a number of local 6-packs and others (Flying dog, DFH, Starr Hill, SA, Old Dominion, Brooklyn, Troegs, ect.). Along the far wall are cases of different beers and there are a number of stray 6 packs on the shelves and on top of more cases of beer. Nice selection of domestic 750s, The Bruery, some Goose Island, some Allagash, Stillwater, Southern Tier, Weyerbacher, ect.

Great selection overall, probably the best selection of internationals in the area by far. They also do a discounted mix 6 packs which is always really cool. They go through beer pretty quickly so you won't see last years celebration ale still in the fridge.

Don't bother talking to the people working, they are generally older and won't be of much help. There are a couple that know their beers, but most of the employees stay at the counter. Prices are pretty reasonable, cheaper than near the DC area.

I stopped here and found a great selection of beer, although not be best I had seen as in Virginia out of state distribution seemed to be better. The service was very good and the workers definitely knew their beer, even giving this poster recommendations in other areas of the country. I would definitely check into this place if I was in the area, and it would be a good starting point or alternative to the District. It is also very well located and easy to find, has ample parking and is generally easy to navigate while in the store.

Stopped here an a trip down to visit friends and relatives in Virginia and picked up a mixed six of some beers that are not easy to find in the bottle shops in PA.

The beer selection was very good and with a wide range of options from refrigerated craft six packs to things like the J.W. Lees English style Barley Wine and Thomas Hardy's Ale from the last bottling.

The folks in the store were helpful and able to answer questions about the stock.

When we met up with the folks we were visiting in VA the beers I had picked were well received, and the next time we go south using 15 I expect to stop off here and pick some more hard to find beers to drink with my friends in VA.

Living in Frederick, I go to Ye Olde Spirits Shoppe anytime I am looking for something that you won't find at the liquor store down the block. They carry a good selection of beer, and regularly cycle in new product. They also offer mix packs, which allows you to create you own custom sick pack of beer at discount. The service is usually good with the occasional exception. If they don't carry what you are looking for, they are always more than willing to order it if they can. The store is always kept clean and well staffed. They used to have the occasional issue in the quality of some of the harder to find beers...but I don't recall it happening recently. This is the best retail option for buying quality beer if you live in or around Frederick.

This is where I go to get beers that are not widely available. The selection is great. They have an entire section of Belgian bombers that are reasonably priced. They also have a solid selection of Samuel Smith's and other imports. The selection from Germany is fairly robust as well, expanding beyond the traditional offerings in America. If that wasn't good enough already, they have a large selection of craft at fair prices. I found Stone here about 5 dollars cheaper than I have anywhere else. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable of their product. I had a question about Witbiers and was more than satisfied with the direction I got. Five's all around.

This is pretty much my go-to place for beer, as it is the nearest bottle shop to my house (25 miles away).

Selection has steadily been improving over the years, nice to see them bring in some nice west coast offerings (i.e. The Bruery), as well as premium imports (always have Schlekerla rauchbier in stock, my favorite!). They used to have a grill in the back of the shop but closed it down a few years back (too bad, it was a nice little lunch stop). The staff is friendly enough, but very hands off. You'll most likely find them hanging out behind the counter waiting to collect your money than out on the floor offering assistance. That is not to say they are ripping us off, as the prices are certainly fair. If I had the time I would drive the 2 hours to State Line Liquors in Elkton, but for a local bottle shop this place gets the job well done.

Popped into this bottle shop on a tip that they may have exit 11, well they didn't have exit 11 but they had plenty of other beers there and the prices were reasonable.

This is a liquor store but about 1/4 of the place is free floating bottles. Mostly 22 ounce / 750ml on several small shelves. Everything is reasonably priced. I was a little confused about the organization but it seemed to be regional. Most of the beers from the same brewery are near each other.

Since I came to this store looking for a specific beer that I couldn't find, I decided to ask for assistance. I asked if they had Exit 11 and they looked it up in the computer and they said that they only had exit 1 and 8. I told them that they also had 4 and 16. The guy didn't believe me and went to the floor and I showed him. He then told me that they didn't have exit 11. I guess I believe them but their inventory is not current. My quest continues.

I would recommend heading in there if you are in the area.

They had a good selection of 22 oubce bottles, but not that impressive a selection of 12 ounce bottles. While I do like a solid selection of bigger bottles, that means that you are forced to pay for bigger bottles. Prices are okay, but again, 12 ounce bottles would obviously cost less.

For micros there were only a couple short rows. Another shot against would be that most of the bottles were covered in dust. 5 minutes with a dust wand every few days would go a long way to making your place look a lot better.

The staff seemed to know their stock, but no one ever asked if we needed help. I asked a few questions and received answers, but nothing more. No suggestions or expansions on answers.

46and2 stopped in on our way back from Carlisle PA on Saturday. Its in the bottom of an office building so unless you're looking for it you'll go right by.

Very nice store inside, my wife was happy to see the large wine selection. About three rows of shelving with singles and bombers as well as another one or two rows of six packs. Also a line of coolers along the back wall with both as well.

Very good selection, saw the full Southern Tier line as well as Saranac, Rogue, Arcadia Ales, Fishermans Catch, Altwater, Weyerbacher, and the local crafts in addition to a fine range of Germans other Europeans.

Like others have mentioned, the 10% off for a mixed six is a nice little bonus.

The staff was pretty helpful from what I saw and the prices were right in line with other shops in the area.

The best beer store in Frederick.

Lots of variety: a large selection from regional breweries (MD, DE, PA, VA, WV), other American micros, and plenty of Belgians, British, and Germans. They even have a good liquor and wine selection, so you can stock up if you area having a party or your shelves are bare.

Good set up for mixed 6-packs. You actually get 10% off for mixing 6-packs. You can chose from the shelves or the cooler.

Service has always been good for me- very knowledgeable and friendly. There are usually 4 or so people working, so there is always somebody to help if needed. The one negative thing I can say about the service is that the hours of operation could be better. Longer hours could make this place better. If your planning a trip here, you might want to call ahead make sure you are going to be there if you are going there in the evening. Don't let that stop you though, because this place is worth the trip.

My stepbrother brought me here since he works in the same building. He's been raving about it for awhile now so I had to seee what the hype was all about.

Nothing too exciting from the outside but walking in I knew it was a much better than average beer store.

First off you can mix anything you want. Want six different cold beers go for it. Want a mix of singles from the cooler and those not in the cooler, go for it. That made me very happy.

Plenty of bombers, I scored a bomber of Smuttynose Baltic Porter which more than made the trip worth it. I haven't seen that beer up here in New England since the summer time.

Lots of cooler space for micros as well. Plenty of Maryland and Penn. beers as well as VA and even W.Va. I walked around with a basket trying to find some stuff i'd never seen before and did succeed.

There is a fairly large import section with plenty of Belgians and Germans to keep most people happy. There were a lot of staff as this was the weekend before Christmas so people were very attentive.

Overall, this is a great little place. They also wine, booze and soda so you are totally covered if you're having a get together. Prices were decent, nothing crazy on either end of the normal scale.

If only there was more Smutty Baltic Porter hiding somewhere in the store...

This is one of those places that I dropped into on a whim (passing by on the way home) and was pleasantly surprised. Strange layout with low wooden shelves and boxes stacked up around, but the prevailing theme in the store (at least on the beer side... the other is a decent wine selection) is one of trying to put as many different types of craft and import beers within easy reach. The "make your own 6-er" set-up is great, but if you want a full 6 pack, you find yourself trying to add bottles to half-empty packs to get all 6 filled. A lot is in the refrigerator cases, but most sits on the shelves. All of the regional (MD, DE, PA) craft brews are represented, and a decent selection of Germans, British, and Belgians. The usual macro suspects are there, but almost invisible among the variety of craft brews on the shelves. Well done. And pretty easy to get to (right off 15).

Nice, clean, well organized store. Plenty of things to keep you interested for a while. I was lucky enough to find 4 bottles of my much loved Rochfort 10...which is drying up here in PA! Needless to say I took all 4 bottles!

Nice guys behind the counter....they asked me if I wanted help and we chatted about Ola Dubh, the one guy had just had the 12 yr old the night before.

Offering a 10% discount on mix and match is a nice touch too.

Quality stop in Frederick and so easy to get to. If in town or passing through certianly worthy of your time!
