3.75/5  rDev -3.8%
look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75
Appearance: Clear, dark amber-red with a large, finely-beaded off-white head, which retains well. Thick, patchy lacing adorns the glass wall. The carbonation is sparse, fine-beaded, and slow-rising.

Aroma: Fresh,\ pine hops utterly dominate the aroma. There is also, however, caramel, and brown sugar, though these are supporting players. The high ABV of 8.6% presents as a little sweetness in the aroma.

Taste: The taste begins with a strong flavor of pine and citric hops, with the citric tending towards grapefruit rind. Beneath this strong hop presence, there is a decent backbone of caramel malt. The alcohol is not particularly notable in the taste, nor is it warming. The defining hop presence carries throughout the taste, and well beyond. Finishes with a lingering bitterness at the back of the mouth.

Mouth feel: Full, soft, and very pleasant, with just a hint of carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Simply excellent, and a drop-dead bargain at just $5.99 for a twenty-two ounce bomber.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twenty-two ounce brown glass bomber, with a pry-off crown, served in a South American-style Pilsener glass. The "best before" date is 03/14/2020.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brick red color with a thick head of off-white foam. The head has a great level of retention, very slowly fading over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is quite strong of a pine hop smell mixed with a great showing of some caramel and molasses. Along with these aromas comes some notes of an herbal smell as well as a touch of a roastiness. There is also an almost licorice like smell mixed in there as well and with a touch of grapefruit, one is left with a rather nice slightly dank smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice thick bready taste that has notes of caramel and a decent showing of some roastiness. Along with these flavors are some molasses as well as a decent hit of a herbal and pine hop taste. These taste move forward with the taste, with the sweet getting slightly lesser in intensity and the hope and roasty malt getting slightly more potent. With a touch of a grassy taste coming at the very end, one is left with a somewhat dank, but nice and hopped red ale taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly more chewy and thick with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the mix of lightly toasted malt, caramel and molasses, as well as dank hop the feel is great and makes for a nice rich media for the brew.
Overall – A rather tasty and sorta dank and malty, but not overly sweet imperial red. Quite nice!!

Enjoyed on Labor Day, 9/2/19, Austin, Texas.
Appearance: crimson, lots of lace
Smell: sweet caramel malt, a bit boozy
Taste: sweet and bitterish, but well balanced by some tropical fruits; my buds say a hint of watermelon
Feel: full bodied, lightly coats the tongue with its sweetness, yet not too heavy or sweet when compared to Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
Overall: Not too heavy in any one area, which is nice considering its ABV of 8.6%. My respect for Real Ale Brewery grows.

My go-to when I can't have BJ's Jeremiah Red.

Compared to JR the flavor isn't quite as on point but is still great. The smell isn't quite on par either. Flavors are pronounced at slightly warmer temperatures although this is probably true in a lot of cases. If you like reds try to check this one out!

It is a beautiful beer, got it served on a Tulip and it is just great overall. It has a nice red color stays true to the name. Has a slight hint of hops and barely get to feel the alcohol. It is a little thick to swallow but it has a great feel and amazing taste.

You will not pour a prettier beer, gorgeous red amber with a nice white top. Got this at the HEB for $5.99, a 22 oz bomber and having one for the second time. Not exactly a red ale fan but better than I remember. Malty, some caramel coming through. I do detect the alcohol, not a bad thing.

Poured from a bomber into a stein.
Look: Pours a beautiful reddish-brown color with a thick head (2.5 fingers) that dissipates fairly quickly.
Smell: Smells like a lot of hops. Smells...prototypical.
Taste: I couldn't put my finger on the initial fruit flavor, but I'm pretty sure it's cherry. Doesn't matter anyway, fruit flavor real fast and then pure hops.
Feel: Nice lacy mouthfeel
Overall: 85/100 I don't think that I will be purchasing this brew often, but I can see myself craving this every now and then. Solid bomber from a solid brewery.

Lots of flavor. At first its a cherry flavor that hit me but not in a sweet sense. The hops take over from there. 8.6% so its a hammer for sure. I dont mind being the nail. Drinking it from a 22oz bottle. If its red I'll take their word for it. It taste red. Lol

Picked up a bomber from Specs in North San Antonio earlier this week for $5.88. Best before 11-20-17. Bottled on 2-23-17.

Beer poured reddish-brown with a nice white head on the initial pour.

Nose initially was grapefruit forward. Sitting on the porch (in the shade) the nose is oxidizing quickly unfortunately.

Taste is a nice caramel malt base that blends nicely with a pine forward hop that finished with a decent amount of bitterness.

Feel is medium to full bodied and smooth.

Overall a solid offering that i would recommend to fans of the style.

Pours a frothy, tan head. Fantastic aroma; bright hops. Flavor starts very citric and bitter; very hop forward. There is a warming booze beneath this all, and a touch of sweet malt to boot.

Overall, I really like this. It's a very pleasant hoppiness.
