This one pours a umber color that is rather clear for an unfiltered and unpasteurized beer.THe head is a light tan and rather thick and rich for the style. the head settles leaving a nice victorian lacing down the glass with a 1/2 inch foamy head that won't die. A very nice first impression.

The nose is sweet malts that are riding on top of the floral notes. the nose is rather sweet and pleasant. Not a lot of complexity here. THere are some subtle earthy tones as well and some hint of camphor.

The taste is a bold and powerful hopping up front on top of the malt. The hops are not as present in the nose as they are int he taste. Here they dominate.

The mouthfeel is rich and satisfying and allows the dominant hops to coat the palate.

Overall a very nice cold weather beer. I really like this one.

A: Pours a dark copper/red color with a bit of chilled haze. A dense two finger beige head forms with excellent retention and spiderweb looking lace all the way down the glass.
S: Big caramel, toasted, and bread like malts. Floral hops and very earthy tones linger. Very enjoyable.
T: Like the nose, malty up front. Carmel and toasted malts. Bread and biscuit like with a floral and earthy bitterness that lingers a bit.
M/O: A medium body with good carbonation. Crisp and smooth at the same time. Really easy and enjoyable to drink. I am going through my first bottle without a problem. I am sure I will be getting more six packs.

This is the new and repackaged Phoenixx Double ESB. This is more rounded and enjoyable than I remember. Really well made and something I am going to be getting much more often.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Dark golden brown, a bit cloudy. Decent head and lacing. Clean smell but not very fragrant. Taste is spicy, malty, with a somewhat bitter aftertaste.

Pours a hazy reddish brown. Sweet aroma. Taste is much hoppier, slightly citrusy but a little too bitter. Clean and dry with a slightly resinous feel. Not too bad, but smells better than it tastes.
