12 oz. bottle poured into snifter
(best before July 25, 2016)
L: clear dark red; minimal head, 1/4-inch tall, beige foam that dissipates quickly; thin collar, no stick or lace
S: dust ... ice cold it renders little, but as it warms, milk chocolate, sweet creamy coffee; no coffee astringency or sharp aromas, much more like a salty Mexican coffee bean; hint of espresso
T: chocolate ... even cold, it has a sweet chocolate flavor; as it warms, creamy coffee; right in midswallow it has an earthy bitter bite that's immediately smoothed out by a sweet coffee flavor; has a slight medicinal flavor at times, but even when you think it's building up and taking over, a big rush of milk chocolate flavor washes it away
F: midweight with good carbonation, much lighter than the big slick stouts but still plenty of heft
O: fantastic coffee beer, perhaps the best I've had yet and good enough that I hope Real Ale considers keeping it around; the chocolate aromas and flavors are the highlight for me; very sweet but with just enough of an earthy bitterness to remind you it's beer; a crowning achievement in the Brewer's Cut series, which has yet to produce a yet for me

4 pack of bottles obtained from Trader Joe's for around $9. Poured into glass. Tasty balanced porter/cream ale flavor going on here. Definetely get both the coffee and cream in there but not heavy at all. Would love to see this become a regular in their lineup . At around $10 a six pack I'd buy it all day. My current fav porter along with Death by Coconut.
