On tap at the Garland Flying Saucer.

The beer pours a brownish-red color with a white head. The aroma is oak, caramel malt and dark fruit. The flavor is a complicated mix of alcohol, caramel malt, syrup, oak, dark fruit, brown sugar, raisins and some smoke. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

On tap in a snifter.

A: Dark amber light white head and no lacing.

S: Vanilla and alcohol. Really thought this was bourbon aged, jokes on me. Good malt and some maple in the back ground.

T: Thick malty backbone with lots of vanilla, light smoke and good strong oak. The alcohol is present on the finish but is nice and warming.

M: Medium body with medium carbonation. Coats the tongue very well and leaves the mouth kind of full.

D: I have wee-heavys and this was the best beer I had at RealTail BA Beerfest.

On tap at Rudyard's in Houston.

A: Pours a hazy dark brown color. A very minimal beige head forms, and recedes to a light film in a second. Very light lace.
S: Lots of complexities in the nose. Toasted malt. Sweet caramel up front. A smoky and woody aroma. Apples and pears linger. Some yeast. A light vinous aroma. Really inviting.
T: Again, lots of stuff going on. It does not come together as well as the nose though. Light toasted malt. Smoke and wood with some caramel sweetness.
M/D: A medium body that is almost under carbonated. A little thin. Plenty of warming alcohol. Though a really good beer to sip on.

I really enjoyed this. Not my favorite of Real Ale's barrel aged beers, but very good none the less. Something that I would recommend.
