Poured on draught into a snifter (aged for three years).

Appearance is jet black in color with moderate yet creamy light brown head.

Smell is roasted malt, vanilla, dark fruit, coffee and some alcohol.

Taste follows the nose with excellent balance. Vanilla and coffee are noticeable with moderate sweetness. The alcohol is well hidden, but there is a nice bite at the end.

Mouth feel is thick and creamy (a little syrupy) with a little heat on the end. The carbonation is fairly low/flat but works well throughout.

Overall this is an outstanding Russian Imperial Stout. It is relatively easy to drink yet packs a punch of roasted malt, dark fruit and vanilla flavors with the right amount of alcohol. I suspect the aging did this beer well.

A: poured into a snifter to a jet black with a two finger dense light tan head that fades slowly and leaves decent lacing
S: smells of roasted malts charred wood, molasses, and chocolate
T: taste is intensely roasty with some chocolate and light coffee, slight charcoal and some sweetness. swallow is rich and chocolatey with some lingering bitter roasted malt and coffee
M: full bodied in the mouth with soft carbonation and a drying finish
O: This beer is drinking great with some excellent flavors that play well together and not a hint of oxidation.

A - Pours dark black, opaque, and a very thin ring of toffee colored lacing.

S - Cocoa, dark chocolate, and char.

T - Follows the nose pretty closely with medium intensity of char, roasted dark chocolate, and cocoa. For 9.8%, the alcohol is extremely well hidden, very mild warming on the way down. Chocolate bitterness is balanced, has a very slight bit of dark fruit on the very end but is quickly beat down with the dark chocolate roast.

M - Medium to heavy medium body, somewhat creamy on the tongue, slick.

O - Better than expected

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep black body. Small khaki head. Settles to a medium collar and some surface wisping.

Smell - Pretty intense. Coffee. Burnt malts. Soy sauce. Raisins. Dark chocolate. The whole spectrum of imperial stout aromas.

Taste - Slightly ashy and burnt up front. Coffee malt. Kinda sweet. Raisins in the back end, maybe from a bit of oxidation.

Mouthfeel - Intense. A little hot and boozy. Medium carbonation. Medium heavy body.

Overall - Slow sipper of a beer. But interesting.
