What a great mix this beer was! Smooth hop bite vanilla and pineapple with a not very oily coconut taste. Easy to crush and quite a treat for a milkshake IPA. Would get it again if I saw one.

16oz can poured into my Jackie O's tulip.

A: Thick, hazy orange juice with a white head that revives with a swirl.

S: Soft, sweet orange and pineapple, vanilla, banana puree, tropical fruit smoothie. Subdued but unique and pleasant,

T: More fruit smoothie character, grapefruit arrives to help the orange and pineapple and banana carry the day. Not much coconut but there is an almost vanilla cream character (maybe from the lactose?) that lends to a tasty milkshake/smoothie characteristic.

MF: Creamy smooth body with a medium mouthfeel and lower carbonation.

O: A tasty milkshake IPA that checks most of the boxes for a fruit smoothie clone.

i mean come on! this is delicious, and as much as i frown on these sort of bastardizations of ipa, this really does taste good. a bit cloudy and dense looking from the can, but with a head that mimics a nitro pour, and with great retention and carbonation, the bubbles are super small, enlivened, and persistent through the whole drink, as long as i let it sit. aroma is subtle on the additives, even shockingly ipa first, i didnt expect that from this, but the coconut flesh and pineapple seem natural to me, in the back behind the hops, and the vanilla or lactose elements arent too strong either, and all of this is true in the taste, a grainy fluffy soft ipa before any of the extras, im impressed by that right away. none of this makes the beer sweet at all which is a huge plus, and the pineapple and coconut go extremely well with the hops in this, whatever they are. i was prepared to hate this, and instead i love it. nice matching of hops with the fruit, and very cool that the vanilla doesnt make this all candied and fake tasting, its very natural and very good. i love the fluffy feel, the high carbonation, and the oddly fast finish for what this is. i wasnt really on the bandwagon before, but now i am. this is worth the nearly seven bucks i spent on a single can, believe it or not, a leader in this category for me, and a beer others should borrow the road map of. a very pleasant surprise!

Predictably hazy; opaque in thick portions of the glass. Excellent head production, retention, and lacing. No visible floaties. As far as haze bombs go, it's a beautiful beer.

Smooth and hoppy aroma, along with fruit. Bright herbs, citrus, coconut, pineapple, honey, cream, banana.

Quite sweet on the palate, with plenty of pineapple up front, and the coconut kicking in mid-sip. Cream and vanilla, bright herbs, and a grassy, bitter kiss on the finish. Smooth and soft mouthfeel, spot-on.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned in 4/2019. Pours very hazy/cloudy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense/creamy/rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy pineapple, coconut, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of pineapple, coconut, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy pineapple, coconut, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of pineapple, coconut, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, light peppercorn/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of pineapple, coconut, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness, and tart/tangy fruit balance; with no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and tart/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/acidic/tangy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 7.3%. Overall this is an excellent fruited milkshake NEIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of pineapple, coconut, citrus/fruity/tropical hops, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/tart/drying finish; fantastically soft feel. Feels like Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy. Great balance of super juicy hops/fruit, with light dankness; and a perfectly balanced lactose, and wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressively spot on style example. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on May 6, 2019. A very small-batch version of the SWEET JANE series takes the SWEET to a new level. Think pina colada flavors. Brewed with lactose.

Taking the IPA to the hazy, juicy, fruity side of hops, the Fat Orange Cat cats roll their New England styled IPA in a bed of coconut and pineapple for an unmistakable "smoothie" type of taste and texture. Everyone is feeling a little tropical with this beer

A firm and hazy golden amber comes with at rounded, rich ivory cap. A succulent perfume of citrus, tropical fruit and a mild botanical medley is heightened by the coconut and pineapple additions. A medium sweet coating of pastry malts glide across the front of the tongue with hints of honeysuckle, shortcake and nectar

The malt sweetness trails off fairly quickly, leaving the hops in command of the middle palate. Red grapefruit and tangering grows into a tropical taste of pineapple, mango and papaya. But its the coconut that provides a creamy drapery to the session that highlights the more tropical flavors of hops, sending the taste to a strong tropical punch side of savvory. Trending crisply bitter with the succulent tang of fruit juices, the hops shifts the balance toward dryness with its own tropical impressions.

A medium body is given an added drinkability from those same dry resins from hops with a dry and juicy demeanor. A medium long linger of bitterness and gin-like spices extends well beyond the character of fruit or any pastry rebuttals.

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color - too hazy to see if there is any visible carbonation - and has hints of reddish hues. It poured with a half finger high white head that left lots of specks of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and thick lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of coconut and pineapple are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a bit stronger flavors of coconut and pineapple with notes of lactose and hints of vanilla.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied, smooth, and a bit creamy and juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This New England IPA has a nice milkshake feel to the body. I just wish that the pineapples and coconuts could have been a bit stronger.
