Uhm . . . 86 is the score on this one?
Look, if someone canned this and wrapped it in a label hailing from Munson (now Charlton) Mass, it would get a 100 rating here. Several breweries in Connecticut have tried to make a real NE IPA comparable to Treehouse or Trillium. Some are pretty decent - sort of. But this one is just plane excellent. The quality of all the Fox Farm beers is head and shoulders above other breweries in the area that are trying to do the Treehouse thing. If you like Julius and Haze and Alter Ego etc. and you don't want to wait in a line and (more importantly) you don't live near Charlton MA (but hopefully near Old Lyme, CT), go to Fox Farms and fill up a few growlers of Burst. And, while you're at it, fill up a few more growlers with whatever other IPA or IIPA they happen to have that day. It doesn't matter which ones. Bring them home and pour them into some Treehouse glasses and tell your friends that you made the trip to Charlton. They may even say - "Wow, Treehouse has even stepped up their game." Enough said.

Pours a light matte mango flesh yellow color. Thin sudsy white head dissolves pretty quickly leaving almost no residual head. Some sudsy lacing is left behind on the glass as the beer is consumed.

Aroma is immediately noticeable when the beer is poured. Delicious notes of mango, pineapple, peach and just a touch of tangerine waft across the nose.

Taste follows the nose with notes of mango, peach, pineapple and cantaloupe painted on a canvass of light cracker malts. Some light green hoppy notes are present on the back end with a very light hint of bitterness on the finish.

Feel is light and pretty crisp. The carbonation is kind of spritzy.

Overall its a lovely IPA, well worth drinking if you have the chance.

Had on tap. Pours hazy, gold in color with half inch head. Taste is wet hops and dank fruit. Medium bodied and carbonation, slightly bitter. Makes for an above average ipa. I prefer several others from the brewery though.

Canned 08/26/20

Pours a hazy orange-gold with a solid inch of head. It almost looks like a turbid apple juice. Smells of strong tangerine and pineapple. Taste is so interesting (and good) - follows the bright citrus nose but also has an earthy and vegetal flavor to it. Nice medium mouthfeel. Great beer - not their best but one I highly recommend and want to have again.

Beautiful hazy orange color with a compact soapy white head that provides really nice lacing. Truly gorgeous beer, IMHO. The nose is all dank citrus and tropical aromas, with tangerine most prominent, but plenty of mango and pineapple as well.

The dank fruity flavors are the attention grabbers on the taste, but what hooked me was the sweetness from the malt, which provided a nice balance to the surprising bitterness present in this IPA that straddles the line between old school and NE-style. Exceptionally well done, IMHO.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy with a honeyed hue and a half inch cap; decent persistence and spots of lacing

Smell: Mango, blueberry, melon and passionfruit

Taste: Mango tones forward with blueberry and melon flavors adding layers; passionfruit bitterness, through the middle, with a bright, fruity finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This is a very nice, straightforward NE IPA; well-brewed

Thanks, devoured by vermin, for the opportunity
