This mega juicy DIPA gets blasted with huge amounts of Citra and Amarillo hops that get layered over a bed of Golden Promise malt. Tons of mango, peach, papaya, and floral hop flavors with a light/sweet graham cracker malt character.

4 pack from the brewery. Pale yellow, one finger fluffy head. Light grapefruit aroma. Taste amps up to full on grapefruit peel, sweet and bitter. Juicy, thick, and a bit of alcohol heat.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. brandy snifter glass
Price: $6.29 (10 pct. off $6.99 because of a mixed 6-pack)
From: San Diego Wine & Beer Company in Miramar (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Feb. 16, 2021
Consumed: Feb. 16, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Jan. 6, 2021
Grabbed this and five other cans on recent trip to San Diego Wine & Beer Company. First two cans I grabbed were Moonraker. Had this once before, giving a taster at a bottleshare a 4.25 on Untappd on June 2, 2018. Untappd description called this “NE DIPA - This mega juicy DIPA gets blasted with huge amounts of Citra and Amarillo hops that get layered over a bed of Golden Promise malt. Tons of mango, peach, papaya and floral hop flavors with a light/sweet graham cracker malt character.”
Poured a medium yellow-to-light golden hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could see some bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 5.00)
Smelled a nice mix of Citra and Amarillo right away. Also tangerine, mandarin orange, peach, pineapple, grapefruit, mango, guava, lemon-lime zest and floral. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. In order got Amarillo, orange, tangerine, peach, pineapple, Citra, bitter grapefruit rind, stone fruit, guava, mango, lemon-lime zest and lingering earthy malt. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was excellent overall, but not quite as good as I remember it. (Overall - 4.25)

A BIF from @JayORear
Aroma: Crisp, lighter than expected
Appearance: Looks hazy to me with good color, 1 finger head and appropriate lacing.
Taste: The West coast take on an East coast style defies my ability to pin down specifics. It doesn’t taste like an imperial and it clocks in at 8.5 ABV and it’s remarkably quaffable. The crisp aroma hinted at simplicity but the taste is complex – I think the Citra hops are more present in the smell and the Amarillo in flavor – the disconnect messes with my ability to define. Certainly full of flavors I have not developed the skill to define.
Mouthfeel: For the appearance and ABV I was expecting something more viscous but this did not prove to be so, much to my delight. It actually had a lighter mouthfeel than the appearance would indicate.
Overall: I’m not a huge fan of the hazy beers but I enjoy them occasionally. I really expected to like this one more but it seems my palate doesn’t appreciate Amarillo and Citra combined. Still, very glad to have tried it, now I know.
Thanks Jay!

15 day old can from Southgate.
Looks like mango juice with fluffy head.
Smells like mango, orange, pineapple, and papaya.
Tastes like mango juice with some stone fruit and bitter/dankness. A little bread and cracker taste.
Very juicy mouthfeel. Does live up to description as juicy. No alcohol presence.
This is a world-class hazy. Super fruity, juicy, hazy, and fairly high abv to boot.
