Formerly a horrible, rather boisterous Pub that sold fizzy beer, it was purchased by Clark’s Brewery of Wakefield. Completely gutted, stripped out & superbly refurbished. Renamed Boon’s, after Henry Boon the 1905 founder of Clark’s Brewery, this completed its conversion into a fantastic, much needed, Real Ale Oasis.

Boon’s is located at the bottom of Queen Street, just off of the High Street. Outside is a protected old Red K6 Public Phone Box that lends the Pub a sense of tradition. 4 stone stairs lead up to the front entrance. As you enter, you will hear your own footsteps on the bare wooden floor as you walk up to the central island bar that is surrounded on all sides. The pub was completely opened out during its conversion into one room. Seating is at the front, bar stools at the sides, a Pool Table, Juke Box & a couple of small round tables complete the rear. Books, old prints of famous Rugby players from Wakefield Trinity, as well as other sporting pictures adorn the walls. Quality wooden fittings abound & a Real Fire that is frequently used in the Winter months.

Clark's Brewery own 5 Tied Houses, this is their best, even better than the Brewery Tap. Timothy Taylor’s Landlord & Clark’s Classic Blonde (a 3.9%ABV light hoppy citrus highly quaffable session beer) are usually on sale alongside John Smith’s & Tetley’s Bitters. The latter two beers are for those whose tastes buds are offended by flavor. For the more demanding drinker, upto 4 other Guest Beers are on sale. The beers are always in top condition. The Landlord has vast experience with Cask Beer, it shows - all his Staff know how to pull a perfect pint. The Guests are typically from Independents & often Firkins, so sell within 4-5 days. Clark’s Brewery are also Beer Wholesalers/Distributors, & deliver most of their own beers throughout England & Scotland. Very often the Guests include rare ones from the far flung parts of Scotia - as the Clark’s delivery wagons rarely return south empty. All the beers are competitively priced as well.

In the summer, there is a very pleasant beer garden & large patio area at the rear of the Pub which over the years has been steadily completely refurbished. Once a year, Boon’s holds a Beer Festival with 30-50 beers in this area, nearly all the beers are available on HandPump as well.

Boon’s is popular, well frequented & highly respected for the quality & value of its ales. What more could you ask for?
