look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75
by bark from Sweden
The colour is dark brown, almost black (90 EBC). The two finger head is airy and beige. Very little lacing.
The smell is malty and roasted with a touch of charcoal. Some very dark chocolate, green plants and chocolate toffee. Bitter hops and a touch of mint.
The taste is surprisingly light and fresh. Clean bitterness with hints of mint, smooth dry roasted malts. Creamy floral notes and a touch of ripe apples. Light to medium body. The aftertaste got stronger bitterness, semi-sweet creamy chocolate toffee, some floral notes and cocoa. The finish is rather sweet with hints of butterscotch and chocolate biscuits.
The carbonation is medium to strong; the small fresh bubbles are long-lived. The liquid is a bit light.
The flavours are well kept together, it is smooth but not very complex. A stout to drink without too much thinking.

Had a half pint on cask at 'spoons in Hlenesburgh. Not sure how to characterise the style here. Feel free to alter it.
Peaty coloured beer with a head which dissipated to the rim. A sweet toffee to vanilla fudge nose. This is very sweet with roasted malt and a hint of wood smoke. Rather one dimensional yet strangely moreish.
