Hop forward, medium bodied with a touch of malt sweetness cutting against the hop bitterness.

Welcome to Round 5 of New Oliver, The Belz Are Ringing Beer Sunday (Week 710) brought to you by Peter Belz of Shangy's Distributing in Emmaus, Steve Jones of Oliver Brewing Co. in Baltimore, MD & The CANQuest (tm)! Today is going to be a great one for drinking & reviewing a horizontal of Oliver BC CANs.
From the CAN: "Make your mark."; "206 W. Pratt Street was our home for over 20 years. Now that we've moved into our new brewery, this IPA is our way of paying homage to that history. Brewed with Chinook and Cascade for a hop-forward flavor and just a hint of malt sweetness, 206 is an IPA worth writing home about."
The astute reader/observer/follower of my nonsense will remember that brewer Steve Jones is a British expat & as such, he has a propensity towards brewing English-style beers. This is just one example, but indicative of things to come. It may be listed as an AIPA, but here are the brewery stats: "Malt – UK Halcyon & Can. Pale Ale, Crystal 45, Wheat; Hop – Bittering: Chinook & Cascade; Finishing: Cascade, Dry hopped with Cascade". Yeah, the hops make it an AIPA, but that malt sweetness is all his homeland.
I am really enjoying Crack!ing open all of these CANs today & I am extremely grateful to Peter Belz for this amazing hookup! This beer was just 10 days old (!) so I CANtemplated an invrted Glug, but I was beginning to run low on clean glassware so I went with a more gentle one, instead. It produced just over a finger of fizzy, foamy, rocky, tawny head with modest retention, quickly falling to wisps. 8=( Color was a pretty Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with Ne-quality clarity, prompting an impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Midas & Mammon, running in from y living room where they had spent the afternoon watching the last day of the 2018 MLB season spool out. Our Pirates (Black & Gold) won & had a winning season, plus the NL will have two one-game playoff games tomorrow, which is kind of exciting. Nose was evocative of the kinds of AIPAs that first got me turned onto being a hophead - piney, dank, resinous & now, my hophead mouth was watering. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was eye-opening in that I had not realized that I was in the midst of a hops jones until now! F**k. I have been all over the beer map today, but hops have not been the focus until now. Man, did this taste really good as a result! Nothing on the brewery's website as to IBUs, but I'd wager that they were up there. It was bitter without being over the top, but CANversely, I was not getting much in the way of malt sweetness. I initially wondered about that since these are assertive hops & those are more mellow malts. Hey, no problem on my end, but they may be overselling it. Finish was dry & bitter, just like the doctor ordered. Maybe they should move more often …

Lightly hazed, golden amber appearance with a large off white head and a fair amount of lacing. Bright citrus aroma focused on lemon and grapefruit. Taste is more expansive; while the citrus is still evident, the pine becomes more noticeable as herbal hops bounce around on the back of the palate. Finish is dry and pleasingly bitter. Well carbonated, medium bodied mouthfeel.

Pretty sure this is a new recipe or whatever from what I had in the past, but here goes:
Deep gold with the slightest of chill haze, clears as it warms. White head, retention isn't great, nice lace, though.
I actually get blueberries in this! Always read that it was something folks would get from Mosaic hops, but never actually experienced. Lots of pineapple, sweet citrus, and some piney dank as well.
Pretty much tastes like it smells, with the pine being a bit more forward, and the citrus taking a bitter turn. Good though. A nice caramel malt background.
Medium bodied with nice carbonation, but a little sticky
I dig it. Nice bridge between what you would expect out of an IPA 10 years ago and what folks want now.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned January 21st 2020.
Frothy rich and full large four finger head, but still with control. Head is a nice off white in color, not quite bleach and not quite dark or yellow, somewhere in between, but with big bubble retention after some time to settle. Very clear amber orange body color, with nice carbonation, practically crystal looking. Solid looking IPA, if perhaps slightly overly aggressive off the pour.
Soft hits of light hop and spicy herbs, mixing with a faint toasty caramel on the nose. Almost crispy sensing toffee on the malt angle, with a light hop but nice presence. Hits slightly pine with maybe a hint of citrus as well, but the hop angle while still present even seems a little muted and subdued.
Palate seems relatively at ease. Soft bodied but with a simple malt backbone that hints a little soft brown sugar and caramel nut not largely. Soft like hop flavors and bitterness come in with an almost herbal quality, maybe a touch of oily zest in the mix and pine. Very low on bitterness and hop booming flavor, but with a soft small presence.
This is a pretty easy drinking IPA and at least it doesn’t come off like a weak session one either. However, it's relatively minimalist, but makes for a highly drinkable but forgettable if easy drinking brew.

Hazy pale amber color, pours moderate sized white head, creamy and lingering
Bit of a papaya/mango tropical fruit aroma - pretty intense hop aroma. Combined with a bit of malt it has a sweet aroma.
Strong tropical fruit flavors matching the aroma to start. Pretty solid malt backbone as well. Distinct bitterness toward the end, but not overpowering. Finishes slightly bitter and dry, but leaves the palate clean for the next sip.
Medium body and med-high carbonation. Carbonation could be lower, but generally an unobtrusive mouthfeel.
Didn't know what to expect other than it would be good coming from this brewery. Definitely doesn't taste like Chinook/Cascade hops to me, but I like the complex fruity hop flavors.
