The first beer in our “8 is the New 5” series, “V” got its’ name from five different hops that we used in this brew. The combination of hops used produces a balance of dankness and bittering notes. A hop lovers delight. Carefully constructed, “V” provides a little more complexity to the foundation of the “juice bomb” style that folks have come to expect from a New England IPA. “V” features tropical citrus, grapefruit, lime, melon notes that come together perfectly in a beautiful, orange-hued masterpiece. And, since we are a proud Worcester County company, we’ve even selected some Cascade hops grown right here in Central Mass. The perfect latitude and climate for this traditional IPA hop.

The pour of the entire contents of a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass gives opportunity to observe a dark amber brew. It has a nice, just off-white head on top. The aroma is juicy-like hoppy and malty, too. The taste is dryer and more sharply bitter than the nose indicated. But, that's a good thing because its sharpness makes this a very pleasurable drink. The body is just a little malt needy to make this a great one. Yet, the sharp hoppy bite, the dry finish and an average, but not outstanding body that carries the ABV nicely, make this a winner.

Pours a hazy amber with a small fluffy head and a lot of lacing.
Smells of slightly dank grassy hops.
Tastes hop-forward with slightly tart grapefruit and a bit of pineapple following. There is a lightly bitter finish.
Medium light body with light carbonation. Clean dry mouthfeel.
This IPA is more hoppy bitter and tart than the others I have tasted from this brewery. It is not overly so and very drinkable.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Cloudy golden pour with big fluffy white head. Great retention and lacing.
S: Grapefruit and pine. Dank hops and tropicals.
T.F: Citrus... with some malt sweetness before the bitter grapefruit rind and tangerine kick in. Lighter tropical fruits mingled with pine and resin. Kind of a New England IPA given a kiss on the cheek with some west coast bite. A little spice/pepper. Medium bodied and creamy mouthfeel.
O: Overall a solid Imperial IPA. Good flavor and drinkability. I like that it has some bite to it.

,Aroma of hops greets the nose. pours an opaque yellow color. Big hoppy flavor with a minimal head. Hops rule the roost here with a substantial malt backbone to balance things out. Very good though no compelling reason to revisit it.

Can to tulip.
The appearance was a nice looking dark bronzed burnt orange to copper color with a sly transparency about it. Quickly falling off little white foamy head. Just a wisp of concave lace.
The aroma had some citrus bittersweet hop particles running through some toffee malts.
The flavor pretty much leans into the bittersweet blend of citrusy hops to toffee malts. Dry aftertaste of citrus rind-like hops.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping strategy about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate. Dry bitter finish of resinous to citrusy bitterness.
Overall, pretty good DIPA I'd come back to.
