The description on the can drew me in: “a juicy hazy New England IPA. “

What a disappointment. It’s anything but the description. It’s not very hazy. It’s not juicy. It doesn’t have a nice citrusy nose.

It’s got a strange nose and flavor which I cannot identify...it’s not a phenolic taste as with infected yeast...it’s not citrusy at all either. Best described as, sorry to say, B.O. Ouch.

Maybe a better description is simply Strange Brew.

I am willing to try it again, as it’s a local brewer, to see if my batch was an anomaly or if it’s the recipe.

I will say that once you get beyond the nose, it is quite drinkable.

This beer is neither hazy nor juicy, and my rating reflects the difference between the implied promise on the label and the reality of what's in the can. It's definitely not a New England IPA a la Tree House/Trillium/Hill Farmstead. It's a fine sorta-West-Coast IPA with a good amount of piney bitterness, and if it was marketed as such, I would have been happier. Caveat emptor...

It's in the style and has some really nice tropical notes and spun candy/cotton candy sweetness in the finish. More along the lines of a mimosa so pretty dang good.

I picked this up in a 4 pack outside Burlington MA based on the salesperson's suggestion to try something hard(ish) to get. Before I cracked it I was slightly dismayed by the negative comments on BA but was excited to give something new a try nonetheless.

As I had read this didn't pour like a true NEIPA (Ex: Bissell Brothers The Substance from where I'm from in ME) since it was NOT like pouring OJ...but holding it to the light there's definitely some haziness to it. Head was a little lacking but I was pleased with the aromas of grapefruit and pine.

In short this beer did not live up to it's title "Pulp" but that doesn't mean you should shy away from giving it a try. It seems to stand between a classic IPA and a NEIPA with a bigger ABV. I'll drink the rest of this 4 pack and would drink it again...

Hazy, cloudy and inviting. Exactly what I expect from a NE IPA. A bit dank and yet still floral with citrus. Feel was smooth and satisfying and not bitter. Very drinkable. Reminds me of skiing in Vermont and kicking back afterward for a well earned pint. I applaud this IPA wish I could find it more often - it is always out of stock at the local craft beer stores...

so this is a very good beer from a very good brewery. overall i probably prefer the pulp daddy, then this one, then the DDH pulp daddy. mostly about the brightness of the flavors as my palate perceives them. But all worth trying, along with Vibes & I have a Smooooth waiting in the fridge.
L: well, i'm drinking this one out of the can, and it's a good looking can...
S: smells nice - mostly lemony
T; flavors i find to be typical of this brewery. very ripe citrus fruit. just a little bit of pine. slightly bitter grapefruit aftertaste that lingers - the end note is surprisingly bitter (but pleasant)
F; the mouthfeel is medium rich. not terribly carbonated. finish is resiny and oily. nice.
O: these guys have a very solid game. You could argue this is more balanced than Pulp Daddy, depending on how much you like the flavors in your face. I happen to like it in my face but you can make your own call.

Can. Murky orange with dense head and lace. Looks and tastes like the old Orange Julius smoothies from the mall 40 years ago. Full orangy pulpy body. Not bad for a full-bore NE IPA. Not too fizzy and not too doughy.

I had this after drinking a Pulp Daddy which is super juicy. If you are looking for a rock solid IPA with a lesser juicy, sweeter taste, then this is the ticket. I am adding Greater Good to my list of Go to's.

Bright and hazy, more yellow and gold than most. White head with good lacing. Nose of lemon and butterscotch. Lemon candy and pineapple, with a bit of an herby almost menthol finish. Fresh hoppy bite and peppery funk. Unique and tasty beer.

Picked up a 4 pack for $14.99 which automatically causes me to be somewhat biased since I'm expecting an incredible brew for $15 a 4 pack. It doesn't deliver on this promise imho. It's a decent beer but not worthy of the exorbitant price tag. Pours with a minimal head that dissipates quickly to a ring of light foam. Somewhat sweet, the hops are a bit underwhelming.

Definitely not hazy as hyped on the packaging, more like a pale yellow color. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't buy it again. There's a lot better beers available for less money, Wormtown Be Hoppy comes to mind. The BA description for this beer says it's brewed in CT, but according to their website it's brewed in Williamsburg MA which is in Hampshire County, but on the can it says Worcester County Ma. Don't fall for the hype, this is just another brew jumping on the tropical bandwagon, somewhat of a chore to drink. If you like beer that's overpriced and tastes like a sweaty armpit, this one is for you.

16oz can dated 8/15/17.

Pours clear gold with a chill haze. Nice head and lacing is good. Aromatics are oddly fruity with cantaloupe up front with some smoldering rubber and plastic. Medium bodied with a tacky, slickish mouthfeel. Sweet malt starts the palate with melons and grapefruit following through. Finishes fairly dry with a moderate bitterness and some pithy citrus.

Kind of a weird one and not what I'd hoped for.

Tall can, 10/27/17 on a sticker attached to the four pack holder

Pours medium amber, hazed early, cloudy upon the later pours. Supports a long lasting and frothy light oatmeal cap, thicker collar and heavy strands of lacing left on the glass.

Fruity nose, with a hint of smoke and a whiff of chives.

Not a juicy as advertised either...seeing a pattern here? Better then respectable NE style IPA, but lacks the juiciness, complexity and tropical fruit goodness of the upper tier brewers of the style....still certainly worth a try, but dont expect this to be the "Nectar of the Hop Gods" (also advertised on the can....)

Small head with little lace. Clear and golden.

Malty aroma with a bitter background.

The taste is improvement, although the the hop is still quite harsh.

Appearance – Half finger head on a clear deep yellow body. Funny, it says on the can it should be hazy.

Aroma – Floral at first, followed by orange and orange blossom (yes I know that’s a flower), very strong.

Taste – Floral, a bit grassy, some woodiness and a fair slug of hop resins.

Mouthfeel – Pretty good, not as smooth as their “V” but better than most.

Overall – Worth getting if you find it. I just can’t understand why it wasn’t hazy like it claimed.

Pint can. 6/6/18

Golden straw color, thick haze, good carbonation that easily sets up an excellent white foamy fluff cap. Nice lace. Very dense head.

Sweet and fruity hops and sweet amber style maltiness in the nose. Heady and sweet fruity scented tropical-style hops steal the show. Pineapple, mango, honeydew Melon withCaramel malty tones underneath. Excellent hoppy aromatics.

This Dipa really comes across with much more of a hop bite, like a West coast style. Then the hops quickly become tropical, dense and full of citrusy tones in the New England fashion.
A citrusy bite, followed by big, pulpy tropical complexity in the hops that is pretty impressive. The malt is a bit hefty but not as sweet and bready as west coast versions, more grains and wheat effect, but with a very nice sweetness to follow. Great balance for the style. There's a nice spicy and earthy bite Right at the end that makes this very well rounded and interesting.

This juicy New England IPA is just that, and is crazy drinkable for 8% abv.

Consumed 8/1/17

A: Golden orange with some burnt orange highlights - hazy, but actually much less hazy than expected (considering it says "hazy" on the label), more like chill haze than a hazy New England IPA - pours with a small white head, fades to virtually nothing, retains a tiny collar, leaves a few streaks of lacing

S: Juicy, but not super juicy - orange and grapefruit flesh, juice, zest - resinous hops and some leafy green hops - some fruit punch notes, with some mango, pineapple, and some over-ripe peach - some notes of green onion as well - malts are on the sweet side, with some notes of alcohol

T: Loads of ripe to overripe citrus, with some orange and grapefruit juice and zest - power of suggestion is telling me that some aspects of the flavor profile are reminiscent of orange juice pulp - some herbal and leafy hops - some touches of mango and pineapple, but the flavor really focuses on the citrus - malts are a bit muddled, sweet grains with a touch of toast - earthy - far from clean - alcohol is overly prominent, I would have guessed this was over 8%

M: Medium body, oily, low carbonation, oily finish

O: Plup.

As I've recently contemplated actively avoiding all beers over 8%, perhaps I am not the market for Greater Good. Pulp has a decent hop profile, although it lacks depth. The issue is really with the malts here, as they are overly sweet and the booze is unusually obvious.
