Picked this up a while ago, having never had it before and taking a while to get around to it. I love to ride the Subway in New York, so this was a must-have when I saw that it was released. It may have seemed like an Adjunct Lager up-front but this had a lot more depth and flavor to it than something that was mass-marketed and mass-produced.

Not a bad pour to this as the liquid was a dark goldenrod, a bit cloudy, and topped off with plenty of fluffy head. A good amount of lacing stayed around on the side of my Teku glass as I worked my way through this, with the bubbles staying in place. Rice, cereal, lemon, and faint spice were in the nose that was muted but strong enough to enjoy throughout my session. Full, balanced, and light in booze, this had plenty of body for a session beer. Not much sweetness here as this had a "lager" aftertaste that was floral and just a bit sour, without being the least offputting...

I was surprised as how easygoing this was without being like anything I ever had before. It's unfair to have this categorized with Bud, Miller, and Corona as this was *way* better than any of those were, without feeling fake or artificial. Dated 7/17 of last year with "HANG ON TIGHT" written above it, this was fun stuff that was floral and slick enough to be a craft beer while being completely accessible at the same time. I hope this comes out again, even though it's retired!

A: The beer is slightly hazy pale yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and a thin film covering the remainder of the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of rice adjuncts are present in the nose.
T: The taste roughly follows the smell and has flavors of rice along with hints of floral hops and a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a good "craft" representation of an adjunct lager. It has a healthy dose of hops, which provide bitterness in the taste and mask any sweetness from the adjunct malts.

Can dated 7/17/2017. Poured into pint glass. It pours a hazy straw color with a thin, milk-white head and soapy lacing. The smell reminds me of Budweiser, probably due to the rice. I also smell some faint cereal and light hops. The smell is where the comparison to Bud ends. This is much drier and hoppier. It has a faint taste of lemon peel and a slightly bitter, slightly sour finish. Only as the glass warmed did I note any sweetness from the rice. Because it's unfiltered and recently canned it has a super fresh taste. The flavors are much sharper and more distinguishable than in mass produced AALs. It has about as light and crisp feel as imaginable. The carbonation is pleasant and at only 4.9% you can drink it before, during, and after cutting the lawn. I commend Kings County Brewers collective for taking on a much derided style beer and producing one that's truly "craft:" flavorful and really enjoyable to drink.
