Nice looking beer, dark with a thin tan head.
Aroma is roasty and slightly charred.
The taste was a bit strange to me, it comes off as a bit burnt with a little too much of
the char flavor coming through.
Mouthfeel seemed a bit thin for a wheat beer.
Overall, not entirely pleasant.

12 ounce can, w/o any freshness dating that I can find.

Pours dark chocolaty amber, basically looks like a typical porter. Dark tan head, that quickly goes away, leaving a fine film, thin collar and just a smidge of lace here and there.

The sniff reveals a hint of milk chocolate

More chocolate on the tongue, with some flat cola and just a hint of wheat malt. Kinda thin and not much intrigue, flavor or complexity.

Dull on the taste buds. Dissappointing as this is a favorite style when done right

Thanks to zdk9 for sharing this can.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a white head. The aroma is wheat with some darker malts. The flavor is very nice with coffee, wheat and chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This is a pretty good beer.

Medium sized maybe slightly bigger light brown head falls to a decent but thinning lacing above a very dark brown to almost black colored beer.

Light aroma of very dark roasted malts, almost to black licorice or bakers chocolate aspects.

Full roasted taste which borders on a fine light black licorice taste.

Dryish aftertaste with the tastes of dark roastedness of the malts sticking around with this medium to full bodied wheat.

I wasn't sure what I was looking for when I opened this Cornstalker Dark Wheat but I was happy with what I found.

Looks like Pepsi pouring...I could have sworn this was a black beer. It reminds me of a homebrewed 1554. It's good. Drinkable. Very easy going. A bit of nut with a bit or roasted chocolate.

The smell of sour grass hops comes to my nose and I can taste them. A Noble hop profile that is quite nice I will say.

I like it. This beer is finishes like a smooth sunset in the Sandhills...I really enjoy that orange coco finish! Very unique beer with a very unique finish...

Thunderhead Cornstalker Dark Wheat
Can from Whole Foods, Omaha, NE $1.69

Appearance: Black with a tan head. OK retention and lacing.

Aroma: generic dark beer with a hint of chocolate and very mild roast. No "wheat" characteristic.

Flavor: Sweet dark chocolate and a very mild roasty edge. The wheat doesn't exactly make it through, but it's there beneath. Not much yeast character, as is usual for the style. Balanced. Rounded.

Mouthfeel: Crisp. Medium bodied.

Overall: Surprisingly interesting. A very drinkable, entertaining beer. Worth trying.

A: Dark brown--really dark with a slight red hue; consistent and thick, light brown head--good retention

S: Grainy; corn and hay; slight malt roastiness but rather subtle and subdued

T: Wheat, grains, and corn sit on top of a pleasant roasted maltiness; a simple but pleasant beer

F: A bit thin but beer sits relatively well on the back of the mouth

D: A very easy drinking and good--yet somewhat simple--beer

Poured from a 12oz can...

Appearance: Pitch black darkness with noticeable carbonation. Minimal head and medium lacing.

Smell: Smells of stout characteristics with wheat grain elements pairing.

Taste: Surprising based on the pour. Pours dauntingly stout-like but comes across tasting of malted, almost roasted, wheat characteristic. Shocking based on expectation.

Mouthfeel: Minor cola carbonation at first with a quickly flattening body that takes the taste right with it.

Overall: Not the greatest of Dark Wheat beers but by no means anywhere near the worst. Easily unique within it's own right I would drink think again and recommend it to somebody as a deviation from most in the style.

A: Pours surprisingly dark--essentially opaque, showing a brown hue when held to the light. This is more like what I might expect from a stout. Creamy, sandy brown head with decent retention.

S + T: The hallmark banana scent is present, though I feel like I detect a coffee aroma, as well. A little bit of a sweet, bubblegum like follow through. It's somewhat confusing with each smell. The taste makes more sense with the banana and bubblegum tastes like other wheat beers, along with a little bit of roastiness.

M + O: Medium bodied, and maybe just a tad more carbonation than necessary. It leaves a bit of residual flavour on the finish that is a little bitter. A decent offering.

Pours a deep black with a thin off white head.

The aroma is porter like, mild bakers chocolate, wheat, touch of carmal and roasted malt.

Nicely balanced earthy hops, sweet wheat, a touch of caramel, and coffee and a good dose of cocoa.

What you would expect of a wheat. Light and crisp, but slightly thicker than a normal wheat.

Overall, a nice chocolaty wheat beer. Smooth, thin and refreshing with grainy feel and sweet dark taste.

A- Pours out a dark brown color, like a black walnut cabinet. There's a good finger's worth of head, with loads of bubbles bursting through. The head dies off quicker than expected for all the action going on. Not really much lacing.

S- Toasted grains. Hints of coffee, kind of a milky non-acidic coffee.

T- A strong malty base over which the roast asserts itself. I can taste the wheat like soft and chewy generic whole wheat bread. Can I taste the corn? Maybe a bit on the sides of the tongue, like real corn tortilla chips. Not a lot of hops action but there is some really earthy bordering on tea-like notes on the back of the tongue.

M- Surprisingly dry, which lends an interesting character to the beer. Carbonation is strong for a dark beer, but not really for a wheat beer, or a beer of this strength and character so that's OK.

D- I had fairly low expectations for this beer after reading on the side "Brewed with corn and wheat". I thought it was going to be more of a malt liquor, but I was pleasantly proven wrong. A quite nice beer with some unique aspects and good flavors.
