2015 bottle.

This one pours a clear dark pink color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like funky and vibrant cherry, even four years out here. There's also oaky vanilla, red wine, and light spice.

This has aged really, really well. The cherry is still so present and bright. The oak adds a nice spice and slight vanilla sweetness, and there's also kind of a spiced/mulled wine flavor here.

This is light bodied, clean, with a nice lip-smacking finish. It's got a pleasant acidity to it, nothing over the top.

I'm really surprised at how well this aged- it's a really tremendous beer.

2015 Vintage
The beer pours an amber red with a medium white head. It has medium carbonation. The beer smells of sweet cherry pits, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin. The beer is tart, with sweet cherry pits, cinnamon, nutmeg, and faint oak. The feel is medium. A nice cherry sour from American Solera.

Drank from a 12.7fl. oz. bottle purchased at Red Apron Butcher, Fairfax, VA
2017
Served in a tulip

Love the label artwork. As for the beer, it poured a nearly clear, crimson-amber. The body was capped by a sudsy mass of large, cream colored bubbles that quickly dissolved. A thick, frothy collar encircled the liquid. No lacing whatsoever.

Outstanding aroma. Really interesting and complex with a terrific balance between fragrant, tart cherry notes and the base sour. Touch of sweetness. Hint of vanilla. Almost a bit cordial-like. Strong oaky barrel character. Red wine vinegar came through as well. There was a subtle biscuity, pale malt note too.

The flavor was much sharper than the nose. Red wine vinegar dominated. Super tart and acidic. Underripe berry notes were detectable. Bit of lactic-like sourness as well. The tartness and acidity became stronger as the beer moved along the palate and crescendoed in the finish. Oaky tannins and a big, vinegar-like acidity lingered long after the swallow.

Medium-light bodied mouthfeel. The liquid contained a very subtle but larger bubbled effervescence. Soft on the palate.

Of all the sour beers I have drank in recent memory, Foeder Cerise might take the cake in terms of overall tartness and acidity. While the aroma was complex and well rounded, the flavor was far too unbalanced. Good thing this beer only comes in 375 ml bottles, because I definitely could not handle any more in one sitting.

This is probably the most cherry I've gotten in a beer without the flavor of robitussin dominating the profile. Super tart, complex yet not heavy, but definitely a sipper
