On draught:
The Citra pours the same golden-straw color as the other Harvest beer at Magnolia. Cool thing is I can see bubbles rising and falling in the glass. Vibrant beer… it’s alive! The aroma reminds me of orange zest with some lemon. Tasty. Surprisingly piney, since I didn’t pick up on that from the smell at all. A bit chewy on the palate with a bracing, dry finish.

On cask: Golden straw color, with a more mellow hop profile. The biscuity malts comes through, however. Still chewy, with a more forward, piney hop flavor. Light yet bracing finish at the same time. Another easy drinker. Cask conditioned goodness!

On tap at the brewery, review from written notes.
First beer of the evening, served by Brian in a branded fluted tulip glass.

Poured a bright golden orange, slightly hazed, carbonation streams visible. Drippy lace around the rim of the glass.

Mildly catty and resiny citric hop aroma. Strong enough to fit the bill of wet hopped and west coast.

Bitter grapefruit rind and very light pale malt flavors behind the hops. Delivers a bit of the dank, creamy feel with medium carbonation. Would have had a second glass, but had to go re-park in a non-metered spot, up on a death defying hill. High time indeed...

A citra wet-hopped beer? Yes please, and thank you.

This covers all the bases for the style and varietal. It doesn't get obnoxious, but it stays consistent and even. There is a level of bitterness that steps a bit too high for me, but it doesn't get up to a level that kills the experience. It works well enough. Piney and citric tones are clearly there, but in a mature manner. I'm always down for a wet-hopped beer, and this one is in line. Another nice production from Magnolia.

A - Served a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy off-white head atop. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.

S - Aroma is full of fresh citrus hops wish some orange and other citrus fruits, some sweet caramel malt, and just a touch of yeast.

T - Starts off with some citrus hops with some nice orange flavor and just a touch of bitterness as well. A bit of sweet caramel malt in the background for balance. Through the middle some more bitterness and caramel malt come through. The finish is a mix of hop and hop bitterness with some light caramel and just a touch of yeast.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a nice dryness from the hop flavors.

D - Very drinkable. Nice fresh hop flavor with a good supporting malt flavor. Nice balance while still featuring the hop flavor front and center. I really liked the finish.
