I stopped here after eating at Betty's near by. As Micah said, this is probably your best bet in the Short North area. Unfortunately it isnt anything super impressive.

Just a couple coolers for beers. Mostly Bell's and Founders and the Ohio stuff. Nearly all 6packs.

This place does have a nice selection of wine and liquor, this seems to be their real focus.

It would be worth it to stop in on your way out of Betty's for a quick take home 6 pack or some nice wine. Other than that, I wont need to come back here.

This is probably your best bet for better beer in the Short North, although I would make the extra hike/drive to Grapes of Mirth in the North Market. On High street so parking is going to be either street or metered, unless you find a nearby pay lot.

The store is relatively small and the heavily favored toward wine, with smaller sections devoted to food and beer (although beer is listed first on their sign and card). You can also get cigars here.

The beers are pretty much the usual stuff you can find at a step above a gas station (Pilsner Urquell et al), along with some Chimay, Stone, Allagash etc. A nice little eclectic store but not really worth a special trip if you are beer hunting. You can get these beers and a whole lot more about a mile away.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and are willing and able to make recommendations, but as expected they know more about wine than beer.

This is a neat little shop that is more for wine than beer, but that being said, they do a nice job with what they've got. I found the folks here to be exceedingly friendly and helpful. The limited supply is largely cooled and displays a fair degree of thought in the mix. Mostly the selection is above average quality, but then the selection is limited. The location is Short North and parking is precious. In this area I'd go to North Market for better parking and selection.

Okay, this place is the closest place to me to get craft beer. It is a small place and focuses on wines, gourmet food and specialty baskets. They have a wine of the month club that is pretty interesting and the owner who I see on a rare occasion talks about having me help her better her beer selection. Since it is a small shop, she does have to balance not only keep the macros in one cooler, but the more major micros as well such as well. But intermixed with those are the good old standbys like Paulaner Hefe, Allagash White, Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold, all Chimays and a few others. The people that work there are great and I hope there beer selection gets even better, which I see bits of every so often.
