Slightly hazy yellow color with two finger head and consumed in a snifter, sorry... Great floral and hop aromas. Smooth and creamy texture with cream vanilla and orange citrus flavors. Big, hoppy and full bodied mouthful, but so well balanced with all the other flavors. This is one of the smoothest and tastiest IIPA's I've ever had!

2017 review:

Dominated by grapefruit and some lemon. Heavy on Simcoe hops with some decent pine, but zero dankness which I loved about Heady Topper the first time I tried it. Dankness = Marijuana "good" skunky aroma/flavor. It's that something extra that isn't noticeable in 99% of IIPAs.

The peach is absent, which leaves me to believe that either 1) the yeast generation is old, or 2) they switched up the way they used to treat the yeast. The orange flavor used to pop as well and now it's gone.

The ph must be quite low because I sense a decent amount of acidity. Hardness is also very high, which makes the hops pop.

Still a great beer, but Nothing like it was before. There are far better options out there nowadays which will make HT drop at least 10 whole rating spots if an experienced brewer and taster retried it. Reduced each category rating by 0.25. Taste gets a negative 0.50 reduction.

2014 review:

Orange yellow hue, slightly hazy. Appears to be 8 SRM. Thick foamy head with tons of sticky lacing. Carbonation is on the low side.

Smells dank, fruity, peachy, and citrusy. Lots of orange, marijuana and pine.

Tastes way more piney and dank than the aroma fortells. It's richer/juicier/hoppier than Pliny the Elder with a tad more residual sweetness (1.012-1.014 FG). Hop heaven in a can.

Mouthfeel is somewhat creamy and a perfect medium-body, probably more because of the sheer amount of hops and malt used.

I am no beer connoisseur. I do not know the lingo, or even how to describe a taste so well. All I can say is is, that this my favorite beer to date. I started getting into IPA's on a trip to Burlington/Stowe last summer, and since have been on a search for delicious IPA's. This is the best I have had, hands down. Gorgeous, deliciousness, wonderful buzz feeling. I look forward to visiting my friends country house again to indulge!
