This beer looked like a glass of orange juice. There was a tiny, almost non-existent white head and no lacing.
Nice fruity aroma.
Orange and grapefruit taste. A little bready.
Lingering herbal bitterness.

Exactly the hop forward NE style I was hoping for. All around great beer.

A: Beer pours out a deep gold almost burnt orange color with about a finger of eggshell-colored, tightly packed head. Medium haze, with some light passing through despite no clarity whatsoever. Looks slightly darker in the glass, a bordering on amber, but glowing with it's medium translucence.

S: Melon, papaya, peach, and a touch of blueberry. Very sweet and overripe fruit, almost sugary and candy-like. I definitely pick up on some light bready malt, and, on the backend, something more pithy and floral. It's kinda like a mix of grapefruit flesh and fresh-cut flower petals.

T: Follows the nose quite closely! I get tons of cantaloupe and papaya up front, though less sweet and candied. There's something a little fleshy about it, like a cross between a juice and a smoothie. Right behind the melon, I pick up on some stone fruit. Following the theme, it's more fleshy, like biting into the skin of an apricot and getting that fuzzy fruit skin flavor along with the juicy flesh. The backend is pretty bitter and a bit citrusy--it's very much reminiscent of biting into the a piece of grapefruit with all the white pith attached, rindy, slightly acidic, and bracingly bitter. Finishes clean with little residual sweetness, but not with a tongue-scraping dryness that some beers in this style can overdo. There's something distinctively "Alchemist" about the flavors on this beer, but I'm just not quite sure I can pin it down...

M: This is super soft and pillowy on the feel--carbonation is spot-on, tiny bubbles that carry flavor straight across the tongue and down the throat. For a 7% beer, there really isn't much sweetness coming through from the malt... This one is all hops, even more so than some of their other beers. My one complaint about this beer is the bitterness, which, while not unwelcome, is definitely the most intense of the NE style IPAs I've had recently. It's very pithy and sharp, and it works well to contrast the soft juiciness of the initial taste. That being said, if it were dialed back a bit, this would be even better.

O: Really impressed with this and excited to try more from the Skadoosh series! This beer doesn't quite live up to the standard set by Focal Banger in my mind... Maybe it's missing the balance afforded by Citra, or maybe, as John Kimmich said in his video description, they just overdid it a bit with the lupulin powder. This has a ton of rich flavor and extracts most of the good aspects of Mosaic without the vegetal, chemical, or overly grassy flavors I sometimes get from the hop. While the bitterness is a bit intense, the rest of the beer is excellent, and I can definitely see future iterations of this beer (once they dial in their use of lupulin powder) being outstanding.

16 oz can.

Orange and golden color, practically clear if it wasn't for the large chunky bits floating around. I mean, I prefer unfiltered, but what tge heck are all of the huge floatie bits about?. The white foam cap holds on pretty tight, scatters a bit after a while leaving some decent lace. Looks like a classic New England Style ipa...minus the floaties.

The aromatic qualities to the Mosiac hop powder is very strong. Definitely smells like freshly ground whole cone hops. Earthy, spicy, tropical and citrus notes. Mostly a funky, earthy and musky aroma.

Whoa....the hop flavor is DEEP. The lupilin powder packs a punch. Multiple layers of seriously earthy and herbal tones with black pepper-citrus and pineapple. A vitrus but tangy hop bite, semi-bitter, earthy feel....juicy and tropical but certainly weighed down by big peppery citrus. A sharp, citrus bite becomes earthy with juicy edges. The feel is actually very juicy, slightly dry with a nice tangy pucker.

It's hard not to compare Skadoosh with Heady Topper, but its really a totally different animal. This one has a chunkier, rougher-edged body and flavor, very complex but not nearly as clean as HT. Skadoosh is about as close as you can get to basically, crushing up fresh hops and throwing them directly in the glass!

I really like the earthy flavored hop effect, this one is earthy/citrus/pepper/tropical, in that order. Nice complexity for sure. Overall, its very intersting and might take some getting used to in it's overall balance and vibe. Its a wild ride. Buckle up.

16 oz can shared pour with friend.

Pours a hazy pale gold color. 1 finger head settles down to a film with spotty lacing.

Aroma is a papaya with a little malt to it.

Taste is citrus and tropical hops up front with a thin to moderate malt. The fruity hops linger to the end vut there is a slight alcohol burn too.

Feel is a little maly body but gebrall crisp.

This is a great beer. Almost like a west coast but it is too juicy flavored.

16 oz. can. Mostly clear orange with an ample white head. Smells of all garlicky hops. Tastes of garlicky hops as well. Lightly sweet malts before some bready and grainy flavors. Grapefruit and garlic finish. Medium body. Excellent.
