I love the Farmhouse/saison style, Belgian or French. American "Style" is usually a far cry from authentic versions. The yeast charechter and complexity is the why.
I try American versions with little hope... But I still Try. Let's see if the Alchemist can pull it off....

16 oz. Cans.

Hazy but shiny white golden color. White fluffy cap of foam. Not as active or bubbly as Belgian versions Are.... Here we go again...

The aroma is deep, but filled with the same smells I get from most American versions: banana, cream herbs and spices. Tyme and Time again, it's the same. This one has cucumber, honey dew melon and light fruity hoppiness in the back, which helps to make it kinda unique.

A light, bright but CRAZY smooth and silky mouthfeel. I mean, it's extravagant and lush on the palate, but I expect crisp, dry and lively. Still, it's really fun to feel.

Creamy vanilla malt tastys, sour and earthy grains, black pepper, maybe ghost pepper salt, bananas, nettles, sparkling spring water and malted oats. Complex, interesting and easy to pull down. The yeast still has a mundane and basic charecterization I don't care for. But damn if the rest is not top notch quality.

Overall, this Farmhouses daughter is worthy of much lovin'. She'll have many fine children. A top notch American version of a style that just cannot compete unless the yeast charechter and flavor holds up to those stunningly beautiful versions from the old world.

Pours a straw golden body that is heavily hazy. Nice fluffy white head that sticks around a bit. Aroma is pepper, lemon, bready malt, typical saison aroma. Flavor has some light tartness (unlikely from lactic bacteria) and a continuation of the pepper from the nose with some creamy wheat based mouthfeel. Not as crisp and dry as a traditional saison, but nice none the less!

What a beautiful beer. Bready, fruity, tons of pepper, nice funk. Hoppy for a saison, but that's what makes it special. What more could you ask for.

Best saison I’ve ever had. Excellent all around, and I wish I could have bought more. Crisp and clean.

L -- Pours a clear straw colored body with a dense, three-finger white head produced with moderately aerated pour. Definitely less retention than traditional saisons, but still pretty decent. Good lacing as well
S -- Pilsner malts, sundried tomato, floral notes, doughy yeast, lemon, a touch of citrus, honey, and rosemary
T -- Quite sweet honey-like malt profile. Also getting yeast, garden-herb hoppiness, and a touch of lemon
F -- The sweetness makes the character a little cloying. Fluffy, medium carb, medium mouthfeel
O -- The sweetness could definitely be turned down a notch, but otherwise a pretty interesting take on a saison. It's The Alchemist, so of course there's some hop character, yet it doesn't overwhelm

Look: Straw, hazy with two inch head. Low carbonation.
Smell: Lemon, pepper, and banana.
Taste: Lemon, pepper, strawberries, real refreshing.
Mouthfeel: Crisp easy drinking.
Overall: A good saison. I enjoy higher alcohol saisons more than lower ones.

Generally I am not a saison guy, however of all saisons I have tried this is one of the better options. the best thing about this saison is the clean aftertaste.
