16oz can poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a dull golden color with good clarity. Bone white head retains well. Sticky webs of lacing.

S: Very dank and oily. Green. Freshly cut grass is pervasive and strong on the nose. Perhaps a hint of chive. Underripe mango. Doughy malt.

T: Cut grass, chives, lots of pine and earth. Hemp seeds. Dank and oily, very green. Doughy malt base brings some balancing sweetness. Bitterness clamps down a bit. Finishes with loads of butter, dank and earthy hops. Lingering pine.

M: Hefty body, full and creamy with a bit of a chewy feel. There is a sense of weight, but it never really feels heavy. Fine carbonation provides a lot of gentle lift. There’s some gritty astringency at work too.

O: Not at all the beer I was expecting. This isn’t the fruity, easy ‘New England style IPA’ they are famous for making. It’s more of an old school take on the style, focusing instead on dank and earthy hop tones. Good though.

Gotta find a way to thank the good people at The Alchemist for brewing a beer for me, based specifically on what I enjoy most in IPAs. Someone in VT give them a shout on behalf of ManaupaMan when you're at the brewery. Love this beer.

Not sure what this beer looks like as I hit it straight from the can.

If this aroma was actually a song sung by a mythical Siren then my ship would be dashed to bits against the rocks. It's beautiful and it calls to me and I'm powerless against it - pine, crisp ripe citrus, resin and toasted malt. Nothing pungent or delicate (peach, melon, kumquat or whatever the fuck shows up these days). Pakalolo in the background.

Taste is right there - pine, papaya, grapefruit, pith, rind, resin - and a tasty and supportive malt base. Imbalanced balance at its finest.

Crisp, dry and the perfect level of carbonation (an Alchemist trademark). Awesome beer; so glad they made it for me.

This is an exceptional pale ale, not a hop bomb, but a subtle brew with great depth of character. One of those beers that you ponder as you drink it. It changes character as it warms and breaths a bit, Heady Topper always blows me away, Focal Banger too. There is some mystical characteristic to Alchemist brews, and this has that, but on a lower key. A really good American IPA, I loved it.

Consumed on day of purchase from Alchemist. As with all Alchemist beers, an extraordinarily and pleasingly pungent and dank aroma.

Smooth feel.

Taste of resiny mellon.

While similar in profile to Alchemist’s Heady and Crusher (sweeter than Focal Banger), another unquestionable hit from this amazing brewery.

As a side note, the visitors’ center now makes the previously frustrating hunt to find Alchemist brews a thing of the past, as long as you get there between 11:00 and 12:00.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 white head over a very rare (for an IPA these days) super bright body with some very nice lacing. Nose of pine, tropical fruit, grass, and hay. Taste of all the above with a true carbonated feel that lasts 'til the bottom of the glass. Nice dry finish and overall, another fine example of a real, classic IPA from JK, JC, and the crew in Stowe, VT.

Wow - another hoppy gem from the Alchemist. I’m guessing they used Columbus hops or CTZ in the finish and/or dry hop. Just plenty of hoppy dank character all around the nose and in the flavor. I drank this straight from the can so I have no idea what it looks like....but who cares anyway. Sufficiently bitter and has just the perfect level of carbonation. Excellent hop flavor. This one is up there with Focal Banger & Heady Topper in my opinion.

L - quite a bit of lacing and legs for this ABV. Pours a brooding, toasted marmalade orange brown. The last embers of a campfire.

S - powerful dagger of lemon. Mildly pithy and herbal with bready characteristics. Whiffs of grape candy and pure hop essence. Penetrating oniony resin.

T - fresh and grassy with a fair amount of bitterness. Oddly nostalgic back-end flavors of chlorine and the town pool during the summer. Gritty hop residue complements boozey, spicy grapefruit peel and toasted graham crackers. Intensely bitter, but some nectarine starts peeking through as we approach the finish, which is dry and zesty.

F - heavy on the flower, my mouth is coated with chalky hops. Full-bodied and viscous; definitely a hearty brew with full-fledged backbone.

O - this one is pungent and bitter. Suffocating and jam-packed with flavor in the Alchemist fashion. Perhaps a little too overpowering in that one might say it lacks balance, but if you're a hop-head, this is your jam. Also quite malty and spicy, it's surprisingly dark and dank.

Acquired 9/21/19 at the brewery. Poured from the 16 oz. can into a Tree House stemmed tulip.

a: Translucent gold cleared out later, inch thick white head which receded to thin surface foam and patchy lacing and a small number of floaties.

s: Mainly Bready malt.

t; White grape and resin notes dominate over the malt base, moderate hop bite lingers on the dry finish. .

m; Medium, very good body and carbonation tingle.

o; Somewhat reminiscent of Heady but more west coast resin. Tasty and refreshing.
