Red with off white foam.

Malt, sugar, other stuff.

Gingerbread, touch of sweetness, the low end of spice and leans just a bit toward cola.

More density would help a lot.

It poured nicely, had a good head, and a cinnamon/piney aroma. Then I took my first sip. I’m not sure what sort of taste they were going for, but unless it was the simulation of your tongue taking a poop in your mouth, they failed miserably. Legal Draft overall makes good beers, but this one should never be drank by anyone.

pours a deep cola brown body with an active tan champagne-bubbly head that has moderately low retention and leaves little patches of oily lacing as it settles to a rocky halo

aroma is holiday baking spice (allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg) and chewy holiday bready malt, with slight vanilla and dark fruit in the mix

taste essentially follows the nose here. spice forward, slightly chewy malt backbone, vanilla and dark fruit in the wings

medium carbonation, medium bodied. slightly oily, a little chewy on the carbo. little booze heat at the front and finish

an overall average winter warmer that had a mouthfeel I didn't care for personally, as it was quite oily feeling.

Pours a chocolate brown color with a minimal tan head. Some cinnamon and vanilla on the nose, and copious nutmeg notes. I’m intrigued.

The nutmeg is dominant on the taste, but there’s enough vanilla and cinnamon to bypass “Cloyingville.” The mouthfeel is a bit thin for an 8.4% ABV beer, but this is still a pretty nice warmer.

Pleasantly surprised. Pours a beautiful deep mahogany from a can into a tulip glass. Fluffy beige head and good lacing give the beer a great look. Smells of sweet spice and dates. This carries to the taste, cinnamon and nutmeg. Maybe a bit thin, but overall a nice holiday beer!

I always get excited for winter warmers and xmas beers. A really well-done winter warmer is one of the year's ultimate delights. Sadly, however, there are so many poorly made, over-spiced examples on the market now days that they give the style a bad name. That said, I was happy to see a new one out from a brewery that I'm not too familiar with in TX.

Legal Holiday (from the can) pours a rich, dark brown color with a two-finger head that dissipates quickly. Reddish tint around the edges when held up to the light. A pretty beer. The nose is unassuming, with malty sweet notes of vanilla and dark fruits. Faint clove? The taste follows suit with a very decent but dull palate of dark cherry and faint spices. The mouthfeel falters here and comes across as too watery, which I think really distracts me from the beer's potential. Too bad. The aftertaste is also very disconcerting, although I couldn't place the taste.

Sadly, this is another example of a warmer that just doesn't hit the mark. The watery mouthfeel, for me, is a deal killer. Warmers should be bold and assertive, but well balanced, with a firm and smooth mouthfeel. I'll avoid this in the future, but will still give Legal Draft's other beers a try. Cheers.
