Great to have one fresh exemplar straight from the origin. Light golden color with a thick thin head with decent retention and leaving good laces.
Aroma with notes of grassy and spicy hops, bread and lager yeast.
Predominant flavor of grassy hops, malt sweetness, lager yeast and a faint lime drop. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a long finish.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Superbly balanced but still grassy hop forward making it refreshing and crisp. Very assertive being even somewhat plain, but very well executed. German Pils demo. Given it is a fresh exemplar, I could feel its hops much more prominent.

On tap at Covenhoven in BK.

Fat goblet pour. It's their standard glass.

Pale, clear, straw body with a lingering, Lacy, shelve-y head.

Selmell is classic Euro malts & pepper, hops.

Taste toasty, moderately bitter, tight/dry body that ends in a moderate, carbonic spritz.

Simple, yet well made. Drank most if this before I realized & had to grab another. Good, quenching stuff.

Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG "Rothaus Pils Tannen Zäpfle"
,33l brown glass bottle, "Mindestens haltbar bis: 11.01.18 3069208" and sampled on 21.09.17

Look: Crystal clear golden body beneath a short head of white. Limited head retention and lacing.
Smell: Clean. Grainy and bready malt and lightly floral and grassy/herbal hops.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with a touch more herbal character, particularly in the finish. A stiff bitterness balances it and it finishes mainly dry.
Feel: Medium-light in body and delicately crisp.
Overall: I was quite pleased to enjoy a fresh bottle of this as that makes all the difference. It was fresh, bright, and more hoppy than the previous example I'd tasted. Easy drinking and quite enjoyable.

Pours crystal clear and pale gold. Low foam, but loads of visible carbonation.

Smell is perfect, clean and crisp, with some doughy, bready malt. Just so damn clean.

Taste is probably then cleanest and crispest I've ever had. Bready malt and just a perfect bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium and sprakly.

This is just an elite pilsner, maybe the best I've had. Ridiculously clean and crisp, just a treat.

Pours clear, gold in color with 3/4 inch head. Taste is grass, grain, and honey. Clean, crisp, sweet, with light body and high carbonation. Makes for a solid and enjoyable sessionable German pils. I will get this again.

-clear pale gold bottle pour with 1 cm foam cap. Initial aroma is one whiff of hop, then sweet malt. The flavor is biscuit and slightly sweeter than many pilseners, with a pleasant touch of hop bitterness. The finish is crisp and dry. This is a wonderful pils.

From the bottle with a best by date of Aug 22, 2017. Sampled on June 17, 2017.

It pours a bubbly yellow color leading up to a modest but short-lasting white head.

The aroma is full of those sweet and doughy Euro-malts as well as a hint of grass or maybe some lemonzest.

Light to medium body.

The taste has a clean and zesty sweet malt character with a mild to moderate dry bitterness that arrives at the finish. I like Pilseners and this one is done well.

330ml Bottle from shop in Alexanderplatx, Berlin (€1.40):
This one was quite an average pilsner overall, definitely nothing special but quite an easy going & sessionable one that went down quite quickly despite not being a stand out in the style either. It was quite a fresh offering with a lively feel & a basic sweetness that kept things ticking along. It's probably not a memorable offering & I much preferred their Hefeweizen but it was an okay lager & it's always nice to check off another beer.

Pours a three-finger white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Crystal clear pale greenish straw color. Light-medium carbonation and light bodied. Bready malt nose and flavor is dry, grainy, some sweetness, smooth. Best before Nov 2016 $3.25 for a 360ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.
