473ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for around $3 CDN.

Appearance - crystal clear, pale golden color with a generous two fingers of fizzy white head. Moderate retention time, plenty of carbonation and looks like just about every other pilsner out there.

Smell - clean and grainy with hint of lemon and solid grassy notes. Not much to say, but well executed.

Taste - clean and grainy with some hop assertiveness. No off flavors and some grassy taste shining through. Possibly a white of pepper, but that could just be my imagination.

Mouthfeel - carbonation is spot on, finish is middling, definitely not on the dry end.

Overall - actually pretty impressed. Would drink this up there with the likes of warsteiner and bitburger to name a couple. Worth a try and I may revisit this especially with warmer weather just around the corner.

473ml can purchased at the LCBO $2.95 dates 13 dec 16. served chilled into a king pilsner flute. The folks at the LCBO were raving about this one....

A- slightly hazy yellow with a two finger thick head of bubbly foam that settles after a few minutes to a thing layer with lacing on the glass. streams of tiny bubbles.

S- Some grainy grassy hops in the nose. Fairly subdued. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular either.

T- Tastes of a pretty standard euro lager. some mild grassy hops up front with a touch of lemon and some crackery pilsner malt. Almost tastes more along the lines of a dortmunder export.

M- mouthfeel is light bodied, clean and crisp. Mild carbonation. Pretty soft on the tongue.

D- The beers mouth feel and drinkability are the selling point. Quaffable and sessionable for sure.

Overall this beer is a step above some of your typical euro-lager. Highly drinkable and would go great on a sun drenched deck or patio. But in terms of a pilsner this just seems to fall short from the rest of the pack. Alot of brewers are coming out with some real kick ass flavorful pilsners these days but if simplicity is what your looking for this brew is a good choice. Good beer, nothing bad at all just lacking,. Worth a six pack and a couple burgers in the summer months.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sept 2 and served well-chilled.

Pours a pale straw-yellow colour; slightly hazy complexion, with one inch of puffy white foam layered upon the surface. It weakens, wilts and eventually disappears over the next couple of minutes, giving rise to a modest collar of froth, with minimal lacing. Pretty standard nose for a Euro-style pale lager - grainy and crackery, with hints of floral hops and grassy hay. Smells clean, like a pils is supposed to, so let's move along.

Tastes ok - as was the case with the nose, there's just really not a whole lot of substance to describe here. There's a clean-tasting backbone of grainy, crackery pale malts and gritty cereal, interrupted only at the tail end of the sip by a quick flash of floral, grassy hops. Touches of apple become detectable as the liquid warms, as do hints of lager yeast and sulfur. Light in body, with rather low carbonation levels that don't suit this style at all - it feels soft and smooth on the tongue, but I want my pale lagers to be crisp and lively - they're more refreshing that way.

Final Grade: 3.48, a B-. Very safe, very boring, but not necessarily a bad pilsener, I expect Ace Hill Pilsner to have some trouble carving out a stable market niche (at least in terms of retail sales - they might do fine with bar/restaurant taps). There is no shortage whatsoever of decent pilseners in Ontario - domestic or imported - with most of the pilseners in the latter category being objectively cheaper, as well as debatably superior. A decent craft lager, and therefore deserving of a decent mark, but honestly I doubt I'll pick this one up again anytime soon.

Not a ton of flavour, but a good refreshing beer. Pretty unique can.

Enjoyed on a flight from YFC to YOW. Pours a pale gold with a fluffy two fingers of head. Smell is cereal malts and a hint of lemon. Taste is those malts coming through again, cereals and biscuit. There is also a light hops presence that rounds the beer out nicely. Feel is light and crisp.

I wasn't expecting much from this, but it delivered a bit more than anticipated. A decent pilsner that would be good for quaffing on a hot summer day.

can - pours a pale straw lightly hazed lager with a 3 finger bone white cap - Aroma is spicy-biscuit with some grassy tones - light to medium body, a mellow rounded pilsner which is big in dusty buscuity malts in front with adequate hops to balance, then dries up significantly in the finish with increased spicy bittering - clean and refreshing but still with substantial malts and silky mouth feel unlike the sharp dryness of a Czech pilsner.

Clean and crisp - finishes with a biscuity taste that lingers. Head retention not the greatest.
