Pours an opaque orange with two fingers of white foam that retains well. Aroma is blackberry, lactose, vanilla bean, sugar, and light herbal, pine, and resin hops. It's noticeably sweet and creamy. Flavor profile is blackberry, vanilla bean, and sugary lactose with a herbal, pine, and resin hop bite. It tastes a little less sweet than the aroma gives off, but retains a good balance that leans on the sweet side. Big flavor. Mouth feel is a biting harsh fizziness that carries a bit of abrasiveness. As the harsh fizziness settles, it opens into more of a velvety, soft finish. Overall, big notes and impression. Lots going on here, and is rather well done.

Served in a Teku 3.0 from a 16oz can.

Canned 07/18/18

Appearance - Hazy pour and orange copper in color with an off-white, half finger head that holds for a few seconds before giving way to a thin, broken layer of suds. Decent lacing with broken lines and spotting.

Smell - Picking up notes of creamy vanilla, graham cracker, light blackberry and especially citrus on the nose.

Taste - Light cream and vanilla upfront with some blackberry fruitiness. Finish kicks in with some odd-fitting citrus pith bitterness that adds to the cream and blackberry character, and all three fade together in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low, creamy carbonation. Velvety smoothness with a damn easy finish. You wouldn't know this was 8.6% ABV.

Overall - Not a bad 'milkshake' IPA at all, but it falls short in comparison to the best I've tried. Hard to say if I'd buy it again because it's pretty darn pricey, be it for a single can or a 4-pack.

Why isn't this beer purple? So disappointed. Had to shake that off to move on...

Single-hopped with Mosaic, dry-hopped, and featuring blackberries and Madagascar vanilla and a "proprietary blend of sugars..." Brewed and canned by Dorchester Brewing for Decadent... 7/18/18 canning...

Murky medium gold hazed to opacity under a fat white head... Definitely lots of berry notes, accompanied by muddled fruits and a clear line of vanilla... Moderately sweet, mildly bitter, amply carbonated, medium-weight feel... Despite being thrown off by the coloration, a nice beer really - very berry forward, but not particularly creamy or suggestive of an ice cream pop... Bright and cheery, actually made me think of Simcoe hops more than Mosaic - go figure - good, but not as dessert-like as I had hoped...

A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of vanilla are present in the nose.
T: From start to finish, the taste of this beer has strong flavors of vanilla beans and hints of sweetness. There are only faint bits of blackberries.
M: It feels medium-bodied, somewhat smooth, and a bit creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: With all of the vanilla flavors and hints of vanilla sweetness, this makes for a nice beer, but the fruit is lacking.

Picked up the single for around 7 bucks into a pint glass.
A - A rather hazy yellow orange color with a 1/2 inch of frothy head that sticks around for quite a bit.
S - As expected mostly bittering hops but it does have a slight hint of blackberry and vanilla.
T - Mostly bittering hops again with a good dose of sugar sweetness to round it out. Not getting much blackberries but it is quite balanced.
M - Medium bodied and very drink able. Balanced hops to malts.

Overall much better than the orange creamsicle version but still not as advertised. If you have not tried the french toast version please get it that is the best version of this DIPA.

Hazy yellow darkening to a gold-orange center with a fluffy medium white head that fades to a thin ring leaving curving arms of lace.

Smell is muted, exhibiting soft notes of blackberry and wet vanilla sugar, as well as a slight dankness as it comes to temp.

The body is super round right from the start, kicking off with sweet vanilla sugar that is quickly bittered by some weeds and pine. There's a light orange flavor on the back end, and little to no blackberry flavor. At times it's kind of like a bitter PEZ, as a super frothiness leads into a cottony finish.

From a large can, this brew is a hazy, creamy orange color with a thick head. The aroma is funky....a mix of overripe berries and wet, pungent hops. It is fortelling of a bitterness that never really follows through. The taste is intense. Berry...bitter hops...full malt. Incredibly hefty and thick body. Interesting, but it doesn’t really meld together as well as I had hoped.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/18/2018. Pours very hazy/cloudy golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, blackberries, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, blackberries, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Light lingering resins/rinds near the end of the glass. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.6%. Overall this is an amazing fruited milkshake DIPA! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops, blackberries, vanilla, lactose, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV, with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great soft feel, not aggressive on dryness.Amazingly juicy/light dank Mosaic hops with nice Blackberry presence; great wheat, oat, malt, vanilla, and lactose balance; not overly sweet/heavy from lingering bitter dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example.

16 oz. Can

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice cloudy dark purpleish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, blackberries, papaya), vanilla, nice little diesel like. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, mango, blackberries, papaya), nice little touch of vanilla, pretty nice little diesel like, nice little sweetness. Medium body, ABV hidden very nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew. Orange Julius! Addictive! Milk Shake! Nice to see it around here.
