Strong tropical hop aroma comes from heavy hopping.

16oz can purchased from the fridge for $4.49. Canned on 8/3/2020, so this is just over 7 weeks old. I let this warm out of the fridge for an hour or so before opening it up.
Look: Golden orange color, not hazy at all. Small bubbles quickly rising up. The one finger head dissipated, but it looks like there is some nice lacing. Just a slight haze after pouting the bottom of the can.
Smell: Not very complex. The nose is predominantly piney, almost woody with some peppery and bitter undertones. There some some sweet honey and floral aromas thrown in. I guess that you could say that there is some fruitiness, but I am not picking up on any distinctive, specific fruits. Maybe some subtle mango or papaya notes? The aroma has what you could say is reminiscent of honeydew melon or even cucumber? But it also has a bit of a medicinal quality to it that I've got from Ekuanot before. Also smells a bit hot from alcohol on the nose. The smell is even more strongly spicy/peppery after pouring the bottom of the can. There's just something in the nose that is a bit musty, an almost moldy aroma, that is a bit off-putting.
Taste: From the nose, this gave me the impression that it was going to be way more bitter than it actually is. The taste is actually quite balanced for a West Coast Double IPA and it has a decent level of drinkability to it considering that it is 8.0% ABV. There is such strong peppery piney notes on the nose, which express themselves on the beer's bitter finish. Yet you are still able to detect maltiness, sweetness, and some generic fruity/citrus notes up front and in the mid-palate.
Feel: Medium bodied mouthfeel with a bit of chewiness and staying power to it. The spritzy carbonation really prevents this from sticking to your palate for too long.
Overall: A pretty good take on a West Coast Double IPA. Just not so exciting to me and not something that I would probably be interesting in seeking out again in the future. I've had other beers with Ekuanot (formerly Equinox) hops before, and when used in a "starring role" they just didn't appeal to me so much.
From the can: Maiden Flight's strong tropical hop aroma comes from being heavily dry hopped with Summit, Amarillo and Ekuanot.

Too high for a normal AIPA so this was treated as a DIPA and poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a stifled bronze to copper color with a nice transparency about it, somewhat glossy. A one finger white foamy head clipped the top and slid off delicately to leave a good dose of messy lace.
The aroma had some honey coated biscuits with woody piney hop bitterness rolling in for a nice mash up. Some floral hop dry tones.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side through the honey to piney notes. Some bitterness developing. Honey in the aftertaste with piney and floral hop components.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a decent sipping quality about it. Some dry bitterness punches with a nice bite clenching my tongue. Finishes with woody pine and honey coated toast.
Overall, nice enough West coast styled DIPA, I could come back to.

On draught at a restaurant. Served in a pint glass. It pours a pretty, slightly hazy orange-honey color with a large, milk-white cap and a thick, creamy sheen of lacing. The nose is malt-forward with notes of caramel, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, and subdued floral hops. The taste opens with fairly sweet caramel malt along with tart lemon and grapefruit. It's hopped with Ekuanot, Amarillo, and Summit hops which account for the fruitiness but they don't provide much bitterness. This ale has a great mouth feel: viscous and creamy, with pleasant carbonation, and a punchy 8.2% ABV. Overall, this ale has some good attributes. If the fruit were sharper and if it were more bitter throughout, then it would be a very good West Coast style IPA. There's a lot of potential here.

Tall can, with 11-5-18 stamped on the bottom, so about 2 months in the can.
fully hazed up look. frothy and fine bubble cap, leaves a load of gauzy lace behind on the glass. Nice lookin brew...
Ripe milder fruited up nose, with peaches and pineapple.
Smooth and quite delicious creation, with more fruits abounding...some leafy, earthy hops drying the finish out a bit..."West coast" my ass...this is heavily NEIPA influenced and thats is fine with me...8% nowhere to be found...worthy and enjoyable...go get some.

Thin head, even surface, bright white, dissipates fairly quickly, however, the lacing forms broad streaks and sticks quite well. Decent clarity to the liquid, a resplendent brass orange hue, scattered bubbles which float slowly towards the surface. Huge juicy tangelo, pink grapefruit to lime citrus in the nose, splashes all over, at the same time sourdough crust, peppercorns, and tar provide contrast, the peach, nectarine, mango fruit ripe without seeming sugary, the dank hops are proportionate to the whole, stays broad shouldered for an extended period. Full-bodied, here the sweetness glues it to the tongue and the carbonation provides just a light tickle. That said, it’s strong suit remains all that juicy pink grapefruit, tangerine citrus as well as the papaya, mango, guava fruit, with a drizzle of honey on top. The tar, black tea leaf and wet cut grass again steady counterpoint and overall not that bitter. Manages the alcohol level well, no burn. There’s something simple about it in a good way, just satisfying without requiring you to think about why you like it.

Appearance: golden yellow in color with a 1" head that lasts a bit and produces some lace.
Smell: mild fruit sweetness is all you can detect.
Taste: caramel, grapefruit, lemon zest, pine, and a bit of a harsh bitterness arrives late.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp throughout with some dryness at this finish. Mildly refreshing.
Overall: this came across a bit unbalanced with the strong biting bitterness overwhelmed the rest of the flavor profile.

Thanks to TangoRad for the can. Cheers Michael.
It pours a clear gold, lots of foam, long lasting foam. Deep into the session, I still have a layer and a ring around the glass.
Tropical fruit smell with grapefruit, pine, smells pretty herbal, dank and bitter.
Grapefruit and pine mostly in the taste, kinda tropical fruity but I can't say which tropical fruit is involved. Very bitter, somewhat dank, no onions.
Nice medium mouthfeel.
Good to very good IPA.
