Looks like good ol' root beer.
Smell was faint, but not bad.
Taste was watery chocolate/coffee-ish and weak.
Feel was slightly creamy and weak.
Overall, after the first two cans, this became tedious to drink and enjoyment was diminished.

On tap. Copper color with beige head. Smells of toasted malt. Medium body. Caramel malt flavor with some hop bitterness. True to style, it's a little heavier in body than some other American examples.

Pours a very dark copper and leaves decent off white head. There is a light toasted malt aroma. Carbination is medium and helps balance out the creamy body. There are flavors of sour, bitter hops and sweet, toasted malt. A hint of liquorice comes through in the end. More flavorful than Shiner, but not heavy at all.

Draft at the Flying Saucer on the Lake.
No head, deep dark ruby red, very small amount of thin lacing.
A little malty sweetness on the nose.
Tastes great - a Texas bock like Shiner so it's quite mild but the sweetness is controlled and there's an appealing cereal note. Creamy but not overwhelming - a great combination of body and sessionability.
If you like Ziegenbock or Shiner Bock you'll really enjoy this. If you prefer bigger European bocks, look elsewhere.

On-tap at Old Chicago, on to the beer:
Yes, I think the "session bock" monikor is lame, but let's face it, this is some easy drinking stuff with good flavor. Chestnut colored and filled with an aroma and taste of lightly toasted malt and caramel. Certainly a big step up from Shiner Bock (which has a slightly lower alcohol content), and it mimics Shiner's lightness and drinkability.

12oz can, tulip, canned 5/8/18.
The color is the deepest ruby; light penetrates the middle of the beer. Head is fleeting, leaving just a tawny foam ring.
Hersheys, raisins, very clean yeast.
Man this isn’t vanilla, and not the flavor. It’s akin to Shiner. Some dark malts, dried fruit, cherry, tobacco.
It’s not fizzy, it has that going for it. The body is thin, but with an edge of silkiness.
They love their Bock in Texas and this is about as good as a single Bock gets in my opinion.
