Poured from can into IPA glass.

Appearance: Golden amber with good sized head.

Smell: Mostly citrus and pine, with some oil and booze coming through.

Taste: Despite some new hops, this still has a classic American IPA profile of grapefruit, orange and pine. Malt backing has toasted and caramel notes. Fairly bitter and spicy finish.

Feel: Oily body that is slightly more than medium bodied. Moderate carbonation with a nice, dry finish.

Overall: Fairly standard West Coast DIPA, but it is executed very, very well.

On tap at the Pig & Fiddle,
A: Hazy gold under a very vinely bubbled off white ½” lacy foam cap. Produces thick lace.
S: Light grassy hops, traces of fruit and biscuit.
T: Starts with malt, fruit, orange, melon, light caramel leading to a big hop finish. The hops are minty, herbal grassy. The hops are juicy and provide a herbal bitterness.
M: Creamy, medium body and carbonation. The finish has a slight, herbal astringency from the hops.
O: A big bold beer with big hops that are not harsh.

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Huge three finger off white head which slowly fades back into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A juicy and earthy hop forward aroma with hints of citrus and pine. Upfront scent of citrus hops with hints of mango, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, and pineapple. Also some floral and earthy hints with a scent of pine and grass. Pale malt presence with hints of caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A very solid hoppy smell.

Taste: Like it smells, a pretty juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus fruit and pine. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, mango, orange peel, lemon zest, melon, and pineapple. Floral, earthy, and spicy hop notes with some grass and pine resin. Light backing of pale malt with notes of caramel, cracker, grains, and yeast. Nicely bitter. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy, chewy, and drying. Alcohol is hidden pretty well behind the hops.

Overall: A pretty good take on an Imperial IPA. Good mix of ripe hop flavors with a good malt background and big body.

Very good beer . . . A bit malty, but in a good way. Taste is piney, malty, sweet and finishes dry. Pleasant level of carbination. I like this one And you will too. It won't be a perfect 5 but you'll enjoy it . . . I guarantee

This beer pours a clear golden yellow color with an orangish yellow head. The thick head fades slowly, leaving a lot of lace.

This beer smells rather mild for a Double IPA. I get some floral aroma. Some citrus as well. It has a very subtle sweet caramel smell too.

As with the aroma, this beer tastes a bit tame to be a DIPA. Citrus and earthy flavors with a little caramel.

This beer leaves a floral aftertaste. It is just a little high on carbonation.

Overall this beer was pretty good. I like it for what it is more so than as a DIPA though. Thanks to Sarah for this one.
