Interesting copper/amber color is darker than the majority of IPAs. A finger's worth of creamy head tops this mostly clear brew; foam reduces quickly with some lacing that persists through the entire glass. Smell is pleasantly hoppy with more floral notes than some. Sweet (even caramely), malty aroma is also present. Hops bitterness hits the tongue immediately but is quickly washed away by a nice blast of malty sweetness that then fades back into a bitter finish. Taste is pleasant but not as exciting as many IPAs; texture is likewise somehow not as substantial as I like in an IPA. Good mouthfeel and drinkability nonetheless.

Pours a very light red/copper color with a very thin foamy head. The initial aroma is of floral. The first taste is 100% hops, and very pleasant. The strong hops taste stays throughout as does the slight bitterness. This is an IPA with some bite and very good flavor.

This is clearly a top IPA and a great offering for Summit. A good sit down beer, maybe with some munchies.

Very clear reddish amber..does not look ale like....some sweet floral hops...and some bready like maltiness on the nose...very nice...Taste is defintely more of an English IPA...Not much of a citric hop bite...more of an herbal hoppiness with a nice bready malt backbone....mouthfeel is firm...pretty easy drinking...a good IPA...their EPA is better in its class in my opinion...

Most definitely an English IPA... quite a bit of English hops in there. Translucent copper color with a thin head that leaves some lace. Aroma is quite floral and grassy with malt and spice undertones. Flavor begins with bread-like malt and is a bit sweet... then becomes more bitter and grassy. Medium bodied with a rough mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable. A good IPA.

More UK than USA (as it is listed here).
Pours out a lovely deep copper with a hefty and durable yellow-hued head.
Aroma is mostly of the english hop variety (goldings I presume). Not alot here, and sort of onesided, but pleasant nonetheless.
Taste is big on the snobby british hops. Once again, I am lead to believe there is alot of EK goldings in here. And Summit squeezes every last ounce of bitterness out of them. Not puckering the way some IPA are just very bitter, in a metallic, alum, coarse grassy sort of way. Malt is left unattended. Slightly bready, and just lightly sweet. It is certainly here, but I would like to see a little more in terms of flavor presence.
Hefty medium bodied. Wraps the mouth with bitter onslaught. Rugged at times. Hopheads only.

Summit’s India Pale Ale pours to a nice bronze color, with a creamy off-white head. It has a spicy, citrus hop aroma probably from the use of Cascade hops. The flavor is dominated by the citric hop flavor with a hint of malt in the background. It has a nice bitter, dry finish. Overall, this is a good IPA, not over-powering with the bitterness. This high, but not excessively high hop rate, makes for a bitter but easily drinkable IPA.

Strangely soft aroma overall, with some complexity of typical hops, citrus and grassy/herbal notes. Mild backing of malt. And as noted by Bighuge an oily quality. Head was thin and gone rather quickly, but showed some lace upon drinking. Amber color and clear. Full hops flavor start to finish, and as with the aroma with some complexity, with citrus noted as well as more traditional bitterness. Most bite comes as the end with fairly long finish and some astringency. Nice malt support helps round out the flavor, but not enough. Medium to thin body with carbonation the same. Lacked a smoothness I hope for in an IPA that helps round off the bitterness.

There are some oily, herbal hop notes on the nose, but they are slight for an IPA. Pours a beautiful deep copper with a slight white head. Pretty good blast of hops on the first sip. Rustic and raw. More of an English slant rather than American for an IPA. Fairly sharp bitterness. Nice malt tones too. Pretty good IPA.

A solid brew. It's hoppy as sin. Slightly sweet and smells of light citrus and hay. Leaves a tad-bit of aftertaste that can make having it with food a bad choice. Overall it's a really good beer and as some say, the baseline for IPAs. The minimum requirement. ;-)

Continues the Summit tradition (so well done in their Pale) of massive citrus/chew amounts of is an IPA but I think they let it get a little out of balance here, there's a lot of "grapefruit"...nice presentation, though, good strength, color, mouthfeel and no off or conflicting tastes..

summit IPA pours out a thin head and looks like dark iced tea. very little lacing. the english hop aromas blend with northwest "grapefruit" notes and make your mouth water. medium bodied; a medium malt load and a very dry hop tinge make this a very flavorful brew. quite bitter, and quite tasty. the maltiness doesn't quite hold up to the hop profile, and finishes relatively dry. the hop aftertaste lingers quite awhile on the palate. if there was such a thing as "hop tea", this would be it. for hop heads, this is a can't miss brew. a unique twist on the IPA style, and quite recommended.
