look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

A - Cloudy orange color. White head fades to a film. Small bits of lacing.

S - Sweet and light bubblegum yeasty smell and some earthy wheatiness. Also some mild hoppy bitterness.

T - Taste starts out with a light crispy bite, quickly into some earthy wheat & sweet yeast flavors. Some sweeter banana flavors come in briefly before a lightly bittersweet finish.

M - Light to medium consistency, with light carbonation.

D - Very easy drinking, nothing outstanding or terrible. I love hefes and this ones local so I'll be drinking it a lot this summer.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Sam Adams pint. Bottled on 4/27/11.

A: Pours a nearly clear, light golden color with 1-1/2 fingers of off-white head. Strong retention and lace, active carbonation.

S: Light banana, faint spice, a little earth.

T: Like the smell, starts with light banana notes and then adds some spice in the middle. Overall, the flavor is too tame, leaves me wanting more.

M: Quite good, light and very creamy.

O: A nice beer, but I really wish there were more going on with the flavor and aromas. Would make a good thirst-quencher for a hot day.

12 oz bottle poured into a weissen glass

A—pours bruised banana yellow with some hazy clouds that are frozen in the lquid, ¾ inch fizzy white head with some yellow tints in it, collapses down rather quickly, lacing is sparse

S—banana, citrus, some floral notes, spicy, mildly sweet and very fragrant

T—banana, wheat, an assortment of spices, a touch of vanilla, very good

M—light and refreshing, but a little slippery, light/medium bodied, mild carbonation

D—very much so. This is the summer Hefe Weizen that I have been looking for.

Slightly hazy and golden straw-colored with quite a bit of active carbonation but a minimal head. A pleasantly strong, though not striking, nose--sweet grains, banana, yeasty dough, and a touch of citrus and cloves are present. Smooth grains give way to a surprisingly crisp bite that lingers nicely. Mouthfeel is nicely balanced between fullness and clean crispness. Not a great example of the style, perhaps, but quite a drinkable beer.

Not a bad little imitation German hefe! The beer pours a bright lemony yellow with a big fluffy head and lace that sticks to the walls of the glass down to the end. The nose is dominated by bright lemon and a little spice. In the mouth the flavors are again-lemon and some clove. Not much banana here and I do miss that aspect. Also, the beer comes off a tad watery. The finish heads off in a malty direction vs the anteseptic cleansing direction I like in the German examples of the style. This is a refreshing, decent imitation, but I'd pick it blind as fake no question.

Appearance: A typical cloudy pale yellow Hefe Weizen color. Nice head with good retention.

Smell - Wheaty and malty with some nice banana and bubble gum scents in the mix.

Taste - Tastes like it smells, wheaty and sweet with nice tropical fruit and bubble gum flavors. Adding a lemon slice to the beer gives it an extra citrus kick that really brings out the flavors.

Mouthfeel - creamy, not overly carbonated and smooth.

Drinkability - This is a very good interpretation of the Hefe Weizen style. It goes down very easily and is a nice summer refresher. Given that it is always available in Minnesota, it's one of my quick go-to beers in the summer if other choices are limited.

Serving suggestion: Standard pint glass with a lemon slice.

Hazy and yellowish in typical wheat beer fashion but not much head. Small white head disappears quickly. Slight clove aroma the most dominant smell is a bubblegum type of aroma. Maybe there's a little lemon zest in there also. There are cloves and spices in the flavor along with the hint of lemon. A little earthy. Fizzy and thin in texture but not a bad beer. A pretty easy low alcohol drinker.

This beer has a small head but it stays for good and gives off an amazing odor of sourdough bread. What an awesome thing for beer to smell like. The taste is super-tangy and has a strange mix of ester and phenol flavors that are kind of recognizable but come together in such a way that its far from "classic" hefewiezen taste. Banana stands out the most but I wouldn't say it dominates. This is definately different and probably the best domestically- produced hefe I've had yet. I drank it in like 15 minutes.

Poured into a pint glass.

A- pours a light gold with a nice two finger head. Very little lacing with this brew.

S- Banana, clove, vanilla, honey and some spice

T- Very similar to smell with banana being very noticeable as well as sweetness from the wheat. There are notes of clove and vanilla in the background. Finishes with some peppery spice.

M- Medium carbonation, pretty smooth yet fairly thin. I'm getting a feeling that almost all of Summit's beers are too thin IMO.

O- A good beer for grilling or just hanging out on the patio during the warmer months. Not an elite Hefe, but a good brew nonetheless.

Yet another Summit single for me to try. It seems like I've been drinking Hefes nonstop, although i thought that i didn't really care much for the style. It poured a cloudy golden color with a 3 finger nice white head. Notes of yeast and bannana are heavy in the nose. Taste has a little grassy fill soon followed by a kick of lemony citrus. A slight bannana aftertaste follows. Certainly better than the tabernash hefe that I had last week, but I've definately had better.

Poured into my Surly pint glass.

Pours a light straw color. Pillowy white head sits atop. Dissipates rather quickly. Smells like citrus. A fair amount of carbonation. Goes down with ease. Slight hop character with a citrus finish. A very typical summer hefe. Good but not spectacular.

12 ounce brown bottle- No freshness date

A- Pours into the weizen glass a murky golden orange color. Head is a fluffy off-white with minimal retention, spotty lace.

S- The citrus I am detecting is grapefruit. Cloves are present and the faintest trace of banana.

T- Is much as expected of a hefe with the added tartness of grapefruit. Suprisingly, not unpleasant.

M- Medium-light body. Gently glides over the palate. Crisp. Finishes clean.

D- Enjoyable. I know it sounds cliche but, refreshing. I could see these being quite sessionable.

Appearance: This one pours a hazy bright yellow color with a generous (1"+) white head.

Smell: Initially the aroma is pretty lemony. As the head fades, the aroma turns to more banana and spice. Very inviting.

Taste: Good here, some of the lemon flavors come through, but there is more spice in the taste.

Mouthfeel: This one is decent in the mouth, but not as good as some other Hefes.

Drinkability: With a good flavor and lower ABV, this is a beer you could while away the afternoon with.

This is quite a tasty beer as are all of Summit's seasonals. Recommended.

Pours a dark yellow color and a nice head that is present from start to finish and is highly carbonated with a large amounts a bubbles. Has a pleasant smell of wheat an barley malts. Mouthfeel is pretty carbonated but pleasant also. I don't care for wheat beers but with ones like these I think I can learn to like them. Summit has done it again. This is my favorite wheat beer so far. I'm surprise that Summit beers aren't more popular. Of the four beers of theirs I've had, they're all quality brews. Thumbs up!

A slightly cloudy strong gold beer - I couldn't get much head. minimal ring and very active beading.

Smell - a sour clove and yeasty with not much banana. Smell transfers to the taste - very estery and tart. Very pronounced, but in a good way.

Drink-ability and mouth feel grows as the beverage warms. Not bad, but i wouldn't buy a sixer.

Hmmm... only one review of the 2017 revived hefe from the boundary waters collection. Odd. Anyway, this review is from the can. For the record, my notes from the Summit Beer Hall on its release night were better.

Cloudy, hazy amber color. Tall white, creamy-looking head leaving rings of lacing as it slowly recedes. Sweetish aroma, with spice (clove) and some banana mixed with other fruit scents. Aroma is consistent with the style, but too muted. Thick, creamy mouth feel. Initial taste of clove and banana + other fruit tastes. Very mild taste, hardly any bittering anywhere. Somewhat thick-feeling finish clinging to the mouth and tongue. Aftertaste is spicy with fruit, with only a slight banana flavor. For a hefe, the banana could stand to be more prominent and the other fruit-like flavors seem a bit not true to style. On its own merits (not rated to style), it is an enjoyable summer beer; just a mediocre hefe.

So my chance to have summit. I grabbed it from a shipment and was excited to get it.

It smells fruity with flowers
Taste is not good. Skunk with bitter. Just not for me. I do feel that if I had poured it colder it would have been better.
Lots of carbonization on the tongue.

Overall this beer is not for me. .

It poured a nice golden haze with a concave 3 inch white head.

It had a nice clove smell that was accompanied by a minimal banana undertone.

A rich clove taste was topeed with a delicious hoppy finish. It was very smooth.

I found it to be very drinkable and refreshing. Well worth a session on a hot summer night.
