Looked for a hoppy ale to enjoy this weekend since the wife is gone (she prefers low IBU malt-heavy brews) and decided to bring this home since Summit is not known to disappoint and this one weighs in at 80 IBU. Pours a great copper/amber hue with a moderate head that fades fairly quick to just a thin veil. One-third in and its showing some very nice lacing on the sides of my New Belgium 1554 pint glass. The nose is all hops as is the initial taste with primarily grapefruit on the back end. Call me jaded, or just simple-minded, but to a large extent, an IPA is an IPA. That said, this one is not nearly as harsh or boozy as the numbers would lead you to believe. Again, As as I get further down the road the lacing is still present and lasting, always a plus. Overall, a solid IPA/APA, as was expected, not unique in anyway, which is slightly dissappointing. A-
