Appearance: Orangish body, clear; big, frothy head

Aroma: Grassy, spicy, hoppy

Taste: Spicy, tart, citrusy, hoppy; ok, but not as good as the hype

Remarks: initially had this beer in bottle, but did get to try it with dinner at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich. No real change in the rating.

Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Clear golden color with good head retention. Sweet bready malts in the smell. Taste is also on the sweeter side for a lager. Hops are present only a bit in the aftertaste. Not bad for a style I don’t really enjoy that much.

Poured from a .5L bottle to a 1/2L glass. LOL The brew is a light copper with good carbonation. The head is 2 fingers, white and leaves some lace.

The smell is strong and hopy with a bit of alcohol washing over a dark multi-grain bread.

The taste follows good strong brew full of life and flavor. Grains, raisins, and fruit rinds, quite hearty.

The mouthfeel is good bigger and better then medium body. good carbonation.

The drinkability is very good I like this Mai bock & Martzen Had a baby. Prosit. MK

This is the festbier that HB serves in their festival tent.
Pale gold, lasting head and spotty lacing. Looks pretty typical.
Aroma is oddly papery, a little oxidized. Creamed corn and clean malt.
Taste is similarly a little skunked and papery, hallmarks of oxidation.
Light crackery malt, but nothing really resembles a Mäerzen here.
I realize the festbier is more of a pale lager but this just wasn't up to snuff.

Nice coppery brown with a creamy white head, great retention and beautiful lacing. The smell is earthy with honey notes and caramels. A sweet caramel and honey with earthy tones of hops. A touch of spice, nutmeg and bready pumpernickle notes. Slightly watery on the mouthfeel, very easy to drink. A great example of the style.
