Pours a haselnut color with a big, spongy head.

Aromas are pretty muted - there is a faint hint of crushed grains, toffee malts and wet straw to be found on the nose.

Has a lower carbonation and a thinner mouthfeel, not justifying the higher abv, while finishing watery with an alcoholic harshness.

Tastes of loads of toffee, a note of earth and barley and a bright mineralic quality, creating a very sweet tasting beer. Develops a faint, late hop dryness, which settles atop the otherwise watery nothingness, lending a herbal whiff to the overly sweet malts.

This is a bad tasting Bock, too sweet and one-dimensional with not enough going on to suffice. Also its mouthfeel is a huge letdown, next to its low carbonation it feels almost like drinking alcoholic fountain water.

It's a light flavour. I had thought it was smokey at first which I was drawn to it. Very reminiscent to a mead?

You can see right through it and you'd almost assume it were a wine.

The head is less than 3 millimeters. Close to none.

The smell is faintish, but it plays to the overall drinkablity.

I'd say thoroughly enjoying of a beer, but I wish it were just a hint more thick or darker with a malt component.

I'm on this kick now where I at least grab one or two imports when I go shopping at TW or any of my local craft brew stores. I have discovered quite a good import this way and this Hofbrau Miabock is no exception...

Totally impressed with the dark caramel color offered by this beer, topped off with a very white head with decent staying power and some lacing. The color was unlike anything I've seen in recent times and it was certainly very unique. The scent offered by the brew was, however, disappointing - very run-of-the-mill in its scent. The feel was very carbonated, bordered on watery, but it did improved as it warmed. The taste was good, hints of lemongrass, a touch of orange, and the distinctive lager background. Though not an overly impressive brew, it does stand out on looks and taste and one that I wouldn't hesitate grabbing again in the future.

This beer pours a clear copper with a large head. The aroma features wheat bread, almond, brown sugar, banana, and figs. The flavor has notes of caramel, butterscotch, fig, banana, wheat bread, and walnut. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with creamy, subtle carbonation. Overall this is lovely beer - full flavored, layered, buy quiet and never showy.

Poured a beautiful copper/amber color with a frothy 3 finger light khaki head. Heavy lacing was present. Buttered bread aroma. Doughy and malty taste with a balanced hop bitterness on the tail. Nice caramel aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. A very nice Maibock with 7.2 abv that is not overpowering but lets you know it is there. I would definitely buy this again.

Reddish amber with khaki, two-finger head. Rich carmel aromas along with toasted malt. Tastes of sweet caramel, buttery toffee, bready malt, and slifhr bitterness in the finish. Lighter bodied with sweetness in the aftertaste.

Got a pint at Wunder Garten, DC at their Fruhlingfest.
Copper color, great malty back, but also some strange metal taste. Balanced hoppiness. Deceptively weak, but it's 7.2%.
A great brew for spring!

Date code L 016 Q 07:43, which apparently means bottled in mid January, 2017. Reviewed April 8, 2017. Bready aroma with spice. Deep golden color with tiny carbonation bubbles. An impressive looker. Topped (after a vigorous pour) with a tall, bubbly, off-white just nudging toward tan head, leaving thick lacing, but in no hurry to recede. Substantial to moderate feel with tingling on the tongue. Bready, toasty, and slightly spicy. Moderate bitterness asserts in the middle and finish, fading quickly. Leaves a pleasant sweetish malt or even caramel taste on the tongue and in the mouth. Malty, pushing toward but not to the point of being sweet. Balanced by the spiciness and moderate to light bitterness ("moderate to light" in the context of American craft beer, not in the context of traditional German lagers). This is excellent.

Pours a dark caramel color - completely clear, crisp, and effervescent. Thin off-white head dissipates slowly.

Aroma is bready initially, but gives way to some spicy earthy hops on the nose with a peppery yeast - its not like a belgian yeast, but there is a spice to it.

Flavor is very bready with some caramel malts, doughy yeast, and a spicy hop finish. A touch of sweetness is there, but in a background complimentary way. The hops really pop in this when fresh.

Feel is fuller yet very drinkable. Medium carbonation.

Overall a really well made mai-bock a very good example of the stye particularly for examples available in the states.

Hofbräu Maibock, 7.2% ABV. Pours medium viscosity and burnt orange, with a two finger off-white head. Nose is sweet, malty, and bread, taste follows, with slight bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Bottle L068P:
Pours brown with an orange tint, clear with a large and very light beige head. Ok lacing.

Nose is of medium toast with a hint of blackberry jam. There is a noble hop grassy/floral ambient smell as well.

Taste starts a little sweeter malt than the smell, more like a raisin bread with browns sugar/cinnamon swirl. There is a little of that jam - though an indistinct fruit - just a little fruity lean to the sweet notes (I keep thinking apple butter, but that's not quite it).

The lighter body helps wash the malt over the palate leaving a clean slate for the lightly spicy, floral hops to introduce themselves. I get a little grass note in some sips, though it could be the lingering toasted malt. Carbonation is somewhat light, but leading to more of a smooth feel than a flat one.

A nice offering that I believe is fairly fresh. There's a nice mix of flavors, mostly malty but with a slightly bitter back end.

Clear amber color with a large, airy, three-fingered light tan head.

Sweet aroma with a lightly-skunked, Euro-lager quality, some light caramel and some honey wheat bread.

Almost none of the skunked character comes over to the taste. It's light caramel, honey and bread. Quite delicate. Mildly sweet.

Light to medium bodied with a touch of creaminess and moderate carbonation.

Tasty.

11.2oz bottle poured into a Becker glass displays a light copper/dark gold amber colored body and floats a fluffy creamy yellow head that falls to barely an edge hugging ring. Spotted lacing.

Aroma is bready; it's all about the malt.

Flavor is bread, a hint of caramel, nutty almost.

Medium, leaning light, with a slick feel and clean finish.

Really tasty. If I liked futbol, this would be what I spilled in jubilation.
