Poured into a weizen glass. Bottle labled "Hofbrau Hefe Weizen", and the ABV is 5.1, so I'm guessing this is the same thing. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet wheat, lemon, a little graininess, clove and a hint of caramel; inviting. Flavor starts with mildly grainy wheat, slight lemon and clove, dries out a little into a wheat finish with lingering light lemon tartness and clove with light residual bitterness. Medium bodied with good carbonation. A pleasant hefewiezen with a characteristic flavor profile. A little drier in the finish than others, but overall a good flavor transition. The green bottle got me prepared for skunking, but none was detected here, perhaps because of the low hopping in this style (or luck with dark storage in transportation). A classic German brewery that knows what they are doing. Hofbrau was the dominant brand when I visited Munich in the 1970s and this shows why they are so popular.

A very nice and mild wheat beer...

This particular brew has a distinct orange tinge to it and pours a beautifully white head. The head had some staying power and good lacing. The smell was light on wheat and some background fruity notes - surprising in my book. For feels I found it carbonated but still very crisp and light-bodied. I tasted pretty much what I smelled and I was very happy with it. A solid brew that I can't help to partake of more tonight.

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a hazy/cloudy burnt orange color with a sustaining white foamy head for a good minute. Then dissipates at a nice pace. Lacing slides into the beer. The aroma starts off with some sweet bready wheatiness. Cloves and banana esters are there, but because of the green bottle, yes, mild skunkiness starting to show up. The flavor leans sweet first but ends up balancing between the sweetness and spicy clove. Dry clove spice to super mild banana esters aftertaste leading into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionable smooth sweet crisp feel. Carbonation seems pretty light. Overall, getting this done before it becomes a skunk bomb. Damn, I hate green bottles! Why, ugh, please stop, this is 2016. Science has disproved that these bottles should no longer be used.
