(0.5L mug draft pour at Brauhaus Schmitz yesterday)
Pretty pedestrian, run-of-the-mill dopplebock; bit of a dirty pour too... dark malty, chewy dough flavors at its core, maybe some hints of chocolate caramel... I barely got halfway through I was so bored with it (2272)

This doppelbock is dark red with a white head. The nose is malt forward, which carries into the flavor. The German water qualities shine, making this feel like you're in Munich. It's certainly not bad.

Love this drinkable, balanced, abd tasty doppelbock. Not too heavy. Quite enjoyable.
The color is a deep chestnut brown. The smell is bready and sour. The taste is balanced, with a round sweet yet adequately hopped and/or roasted? Sessionable. Relatively light mouthfeel and doesn't show it's 7.5% alcohol.

On tap at Lionheart Pub and Brewery in Albany, NY.
This one pours a dark brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like raisiny dark fruit, breadiness, chestnuts, and caramel.
This is a pretty standard and textbook take on the style, with a big fruity and caramel sweetness, a bit of chocolate, and a touch of bready bitterness.
This drinks "small" compared to other dopplebocks I've had, as it's smooth and not really all that heavy. There's a very good drinkability.
I unfortunately don't see enough American breweries making dopplebocks, so I gotta go with stuff like this when I see it, to scratch that itch.

a sweet and sturdy bock here, i had not seen this one before i found it on tap at prost in downtown boise, a wonderful spot for draft german beer! you just dont see enough doppelbock around anymore, and i was stoked to see this on their impressive menu. deep chestnut colored, pushing brown but with some deep auburn edges and a climbing khaki head. it smells like brown sugar, a little soy sauce, proofing dough for dark rustic bread, raisins, and some appreciable alcohol too, not overly intense, not too big, but its a constant here. nutty in the taste at first and an umami element before the breadiness sets in, brown sugar and maple and curiously, a little bit of an acidic tinge there in the center, almond, toffee, burnt butter. its smooth in feel even with the little bit of interruption from the acidity, nicely carbonated for a style thats usually a little still, and just full of flavor. the booze stays warm but never gets hot, and while this might not be a beer to drink several liters of, a glass of it is real pleasing, especially to cap off a solid session. really was vibing with this one last night!

Had on tap. Medium brown mostly clear body, thin mushroom head. Lots of malt, toasted toffee, flowers, slight resin, and dirt. Taste adds in some roasted nuts, but generally is light on the palate for the style. Feel is somewhat thin, smooth, and booze peaks out a little. Solid

2016 hofbrau winter spezial Delicator doppelbock clocks in with an 8.4% abv. This beer like most from Hofbrau is a good value in my area. Easy drinking winter doppelbock with subdued looks and smell. Nice taste and feel. Recommended winter seasonal.

On tap. Poured a clear, reddish amber color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of caramel, toffee and floral notes. Roasted malt taste with toffee and a subtle bitter bite.

This is an interesting Doppelbock because it is fully loaded with alcohol, yet very light and the ABV is not detectable, making this one quite "dangerous". It pours a soft, pillowy head, with a dark body, but not completely opaque. Scents of hazelnuts and fruity plums shine through. Tastes of slightly sour cherries, mildly, followed by a distinct malty, dark chocolately backdrop. Nothing offensive. Washes with a slight cocoa flavor, but subtle and nice dry finish.

From Hipercor. In Teku glass. After dinner. A bit alcoholic, with nothing more than the alcoholic feeling. Not unpleasant but boring, without much taste
