If I'm in Munich late-night on the Thursday or Friday before the start of the Oktoberfest, then I'm at "Haus der 111 Biere." It's now tradition (twice over, so far).

Firstly, I'm rating this place as if I were NOT there during this time. I just want to be fair-minded and step a bit outside my experiences. Thus the atmosphere rating. For me on the celebration days above, it's a 4.5 load of fun (I just don't know if I would stop by here on any other dates, with all the other offerings in and out of Munich). The music is loud and spirited (bartender-controlled selections) and often celebrated and sung to by all sorts of patrons. It gets one psyched up for the festing to come.

My first time here I just entered to see what selection was to be had (wanted to try some rarities for the first time). Although no Gose nor Berliner Weisse were on the list, I ended up staying with friends for many a round (!). In the end we were even served several free-bee drafts from the bartender just for hanging so long and having a good time.

When we entered, there were some Japaneese gentlemen having some lively rounds, along with a bunch of locals. Then after a while a group of Swiss fest-goers showed and their tradition of Thrs. pre-fest had become my own.
