Basement IPABasement IPA
Notes: This juicy IPA was developed in our “underground” basement brewery. Shh…don’t ask about what was happening in the basement, but the beer flows out of the tap a deep persimmon with fluffy khaki foam. The only dank aroma emanating from this basement is one of earthy tones, juicy citrus and a hint of lemongrass all derived from Citra hops. Basement IPA is balanced with a nice malty body that creates a sweet finish and developed hop notes in every sip. There is a hint of alcohol heat on the way down for this hop forward Northeast style IPA. Beer geeks rejoice but you have to leave your parent’s basement because for now Basement IPA is only at your local establishment.

Enjoying this locally brewed IPA on tap at George’s in the Highlands neighborhood in Atlanta while visiting family. Hailing from the land o’ Two Hearted Ale, I am fortunate to be well-acquainted with the best of IPAs. I give Scofflaw high marks for a well rounded and satisfying creation. We’ll done, Scofflaw, on your Basement brew!

I've tried a bunch of others, but this is my favorite IPA in GA.
I stopped (for now) ordering the others. I'm usually in New England, and have to say I'd be happy to see this on the local bar menu. Definitely nice to get a break from the super hazy/turbid NEIPA stuff.

Received from @roguer in the NBS BIF #13. Poured from undated can into a pint glass. It pours a hazy, bright golden yellow with over a finger of sudsy, bright white head and thick, soapy lacing. The smell features lemon peel, grapefruit, and floral hops. The taste pops with tart lemon and grapefruit , along with resinous pine. As it warms, there are subtle notes of crackery malt and perhaps a hint of melon but this is definitely a West Coast style IPA. It's dank and bitter. The Citra hops (I believe it's single-hopped) are used to excellent effect. This ale has a crisp, dry mouth feel with lively carbonation, and the 7.5% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, Basement IPA is a great rendition of West Coast IPA with lots of bitter citrus and pine. And it drinks much too easily; I drained the glass before I knew it. I would seek this out if Scofflaw distributed to New Jersey.

3-week-old can.

Pours a beautiful pale gold with great clarity and a wonderful bright white head that holds its soapy form well and provides lots of sticky lacing. Looks like a piney, sticky West Coast IPA all the way.

But low and behold, there’s a lot more going on here. Certainly some West Coast components, with heavy grapefruit, pine, and biscuity malt, but this thing is juicy. Big citrus, tropical and stone fruits, all in a muddled fruit salad. There’s also a fascinating funky, farmy, sour note that gives it a real bite. Notes of grape, pineapple, and lemon/lime late. Really unique nose.

Taste follows exactly, with grapefruit pith and juicy, malty sweetness in harmonious balance. All the same fruit and pine notes are there. A little mild for 7.5%, but I love everything that’s there.

Nice silky and substantive feel with good teeth coating, but not sticky.

Man, I am digging this beer. Wonderful mix of northeastern, midwestern, and west coast IPAs, with balanced homage to each. This scratches a LOT of itches.

Pretty good old school IPA. I’d put it between the maltier midwest ones and the piney west coast ones. Enjoyable. A good beer to drink in your basement...

Honey gold with very little haze and topped with 4 fingers of white rocky head.

Smells of canned pineapple and mango.

Tastes of pineapple and fruit cocktail with a note of tartness. Grapefruit pith as well.

Medium resinous body with medium carbonation.

I got this in Atlanta and am drinking it in Redding California, July 26th 2020.

One of the many GA local beers that I got to try while visiting my son during the 4th of July holiday...

I didn't know what to expect, but this one was a very nice surprise. A fruity scent to go along with a fruity and bitter IPA taste, with a look that is bright, lightly hazy and has a good foamy head. Mouthfeel is crisp, but a ta watery, and overall, I find it a very good representative of the good ol' USA IPA-style.

I've had many IPAs of many styles. None other has blown my taste buddies away to Heaven as well as this brew has!

This one is now my favorite for ultra-citrus IPAs -- it's prominently super tangerine with a nice hit of grapefruit, but is not TOO bitter. There's no conifer note to speak of. This one is totally citrus, and I love it for that.

It has a nice, soothing mouthfeel -- almost creamy without being overly thick. The nose is subtle, but matches the much more intense flavor hiding within the amber waves below.

If you like citrus-forward IPA that is not super hoptastic, get this. You will NOT be disappointed, but do be sure to drink it cold. It's okay-ish warm, but shines the most when it's properly chilled.
