Notes / Commercial Description:
It’s worth the risk to go for Double Jeopardy IPA. This complex and easy drinking imperial IPA pours a hazy golden orange with a fluffy, stark white foam that dissipates to moderate lacing -- proof of the crime of an empty glass. The aroma floods the senses with bright citrus and New World tropical flavors led by Simcoe hops. Double Jeopardy has a malty bite up front from caramel and pale malts followed by a resinous hoppy middle, then finishes with a lingering, bittersweet boozy tingle. This big and bold unfiltered IPA taunts you: Can you walk away without having another?

Malt: Two-Row Pale, Carafoam, Acidulated, Marris Otter

On tap, The Brass Tap Tuscaloosa.

Deep orange pour, lightly hazy. Nice creamy head of foam settles on top, even microscopic bubbles converging above the beer itself. Heavy lace as the beer descends.

Big, tropical nose. Sweet tangerine and mango are very apparent right away. Some grapefruity undertones and a very mild hop aroma round it out nicely.

Nice flavors here, sweet citrus and a return of that mango, albiet milder than what it was on the nose. Getting some maltiness on the backbone as well, but for 10% it’s damn smooth. As the beer opens up and warms slightly, the hops really begin to emerge as well. Honestly the more I drink it, the more I get a similarity to some version of an old fashioned... the ever-increasing booziness combined with that potent orange zest emulates bitters and rye whiskey. Idk.. just hear me out.

Medium bodied, low, soft carb. Lightly sticky in the finish, but with a smooth, almost creamy feel to it. Very light warmth as it goes down, but no unpleasant booze. The more I drink, though, the more I wish the carbonation was better. Won’t hold that against it, though, as that could be a CO2 issue with the lines.

Poured from 12 oz can dated 11/28/2018

A: Lightly hazy golden amber with 1-2 finger off-white head. Decent retention and tons of lacing.

S: Orange zest, tangerine, grapefruit mixed with caramel biscuit malts.

T: Bright citrus with tangerine, grapefruit, and mango tempered by sweet caramel and dank resinous hops.

M: Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Finish has a big hop bite with a touch of sweetness

O: Unique twist on a DIPA bringing a nice citrusy hop blend with a balanced malt bill. Very drinkable for 10.5% ABV.

Got in a BIF from KMitch. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/4/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, honey, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 10% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not aggressive. Outstanding Simcoe/Galaxy/C's profile. Extremely juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; nice sized bready malt backbone, but not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, very amazing style example. Loved the hop profile as expected.

Poured this into my trusty Thirsty Monk snifter. The body has a hazy dark golden hue, that gives up a thin white head.
The aroma is all over the place with apricots, grapefruit, sugar cookies and caramel.
The flavor is perfectly balanced with the fruity sweetness playing against a strident hop bite.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied.
Overall I'm quite impressed, and highly recommend.

Poured a little flat. Hazy orange body
Smell of malty citrus, orange, apricot, biscuit
Honey and caramel dominate, citrus grassy hops behind
A little syrupy, I may have overchilled it though
A good beer, sweeter than I would expect, but not in a bad way

Pours golden yellow, smells of fresh bread, caramel, yeast. Taste of caramel, melon, malty, orange, mild grapefruit, pecan praline, wheat bread + creamy, slight trace of peanut butter and jelly. No real alcohol heat or even trace of alcohol. Another great Scofflaw brew. I’m so fortunate to live in the gray star of Georgia. These breweries are amazing and head and shoulders above any other state.

Also not a huge deal but it is 10 percent by volume not 10.5.

A very good DIPA! One of the better DIPAs from Georgia. Scofflaw does a great job! I look forward to the rest of the six-pack.
I just tasted a fresh batch and upgraded my rating. Very enjoyable

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. The appearance is a lightly hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is piney hops, malt and some citrus. The taste follows the nose.

Hazy amber, frothy white head; The aroma hints of hops; Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, mildly carbonated but not flat; The flavor is smooth and hoppy, not too bitter, no hint of alcohol; a slightly sour aftertaste. The flavor mellows as the beer warms. This is a good IPA, a bit on the heavy side.
