this is an absolutely insane beer, my first from these guys and absolutely a standout in the adjunct imperial stout world, which seems to be never ending now. this is the most vanilla i have ever known in a beer, and more than that, its the most natural tasting vanilla i have had in any beer, which is crazy to me, usually it hits a saturation point for my palate where after a certain amount of vanilla in a beer like this, it just becomes sugary and too much, syrupy and nasty, but this both goes beyond that and never gets there, its just absurd. apparently it was aged in a bourbon barrel that has housed some crafted vanilla extract before what appears to be a very solid base imperial stout went in. the vanilla in this beer is concentrated for sure, but its the absolute essence of the bean, and with the barrel char, a light smoke from the dark malts, and an insane amount of wood, its incredibly appealing, and my mouth waters for more of this just typing it up! loads and loads of vanilla, some whiskey coming through too, some warming alcohol but this isnt hot for how strong it is, and finally this smooth mellow rich oak finishing it off with the bitterness of the dark roasted barley. i cant even believe how much vanilla is in this thing, its unheard of, and even more how much i like it. the dessert beers have been turning me off lately, but this is positively next level. ill remember this beer for the rest of my life, and i hope to one day drink some more of it. an absolute mind bender!

Pours black on this cloudy rainy dreary day so no pale light showing through anyway thumb sized tan head falls to ring bubbles that leaves some spotty lace.

Aroma is loads of vanilla not just hints, then some good bourbon notes wrapped around roasted malts. Dark fruit hints and earthy notes underneath the smooth vanilla, bourbon and roasted notes, man its smells as smooth as it tastes.

Taste is just like the nose on this baby loads of vanilla nut doesn't taste like someone just dumped in artificial vanilla so smooth and blends right into the perfect amount of bourbon notes that surround the great roasted malt light coffee and chocolate hints of dark fruits and earthy hints.

Mouthfeel is nice big medium with smooth carbonation so easy to drink this might be in trouble if you could afford to drink multiple ones.

Overall a great easy drinking enjoyable big stout, hope they still have some at the store I need to buy few to cellar.

This is a taste stout that has a rich, full body and appeal flavor. It smells fantastic. It's an excellent companion for cold weather. It's smooth and borders on being a meal.
