Appearance - The beer poured a murky black color with an off-white head and little visible carbonation.

Smell - The nose had notes on big bold coffee with hints of the barrel aging.

Taste - The first impression is super rich coffee. Notes of dark chocolate and raisins followed. The beer had a strange mint Oreo quality that I really enjoyed that carried to the finish.

Mouthfeel - The body allowed the beer to stick to the back of the tongue and linger.

Overall - This beer is pretty awesome and worth the hype.

500ml bottle poured into small snifter

Pour is a dark brown and looks fairly thin. Nose is espresso. Taste is of spent coffee grounds, chocolate covered raisins, and mellow char. This is the only barrel characteristic here. Smooth for the high ABV. Like a “hot” coffee.

Good head production and excellent retention, especially for the style.

Big boozy but complex aroma. Coffee, bourbon, and chocolate, swirling in tons of nutty roasted barley.

Flavor follows, along with red grape notes and a building brown sugar crescendo that reaches a peak with vanilla and marshmallow tones. The bourbon isn't quite as strong as in other BBA stouts, but the balance is impressive.

Thick, almost chewy, sticky, impressively smooth for the sky high ABV, presenting only as a pleasant lingering warmth.

A very impressive beer!

Tan head. Dark brown black color.

Nose is straight up coffee and bourbon. Taste follows up very nicely. Great coffee, great bourbon, great oak. Wow. Impressed with this. Cocoa and oak. Not super roasted or charred which makes this taste like bcbcs.

Wow. Impressed with this one. Well done!

Very dark appearance with tan head that dissipates quickly. Very nice strong bourbon and coffee aroma. Taste is very prominent bourbon and coffee taste with a hint of alcohol . A little more aging and this would be a perfect coffee bourbon beer.

Poured near black with a frothy brownish head, but looks thin. The nose was pronounced with bourbon-soaked oak, coffee, and dark roasted malts. The nose had a little heat. The taste was great, a combination of distinct flavors that meld to a nice, rich ganache. The distinct flavors were bourbon barrel, dark chocolate, pecans, and coffee. The stout had a full body, moderate carbonation, but fairly thin viscosity.

This was an outstanding ba coffee stout! I was impressed. Most smaller breweries that try a barrel program do not succeed, but these guys did. The only thing that fell short was the feel - too thin.
