A playful riff on our beloved barrel aged barleywine, Tiramisu Bourbon Barrel Brick Kiln offers a truly decadent experience. After carefully resting in bourbon barrels for 13 months, the beer was conditioned on cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and espresso roast coffee.

Burnt copper-brown nearing black with a barely there bubbly light tan film.

The aroma on this, while intriguing, is a bit odd. The roasted coffee blended with the Barleywine elements is giving me a sort of toasted tortilla shell with brown sugar.

Continuing this theme, as I dig into the flavor I can't help but think huevos rancheros, as I'm getting a bit of black bean in the roastiness. Then burnt sugar emulates Mexican coffee with a dusting of cocoa. Ay ay ay!

The body has been softened up, with a medium-thin heft, thin fizz and a semi-dry finish.

Very unique! Despite the unusual descriptors used here, it's quite tasty, but departs drastically from its base.

I had the freshly bottled version in February 2020, and found it to have been improved with far fewer odd notes. It was super woody, but also had more of a vanilla mocha character, coming to a super dry finish with a milky exhale. I've upped my score a hair.
